How much is too much or normal for a diaper bag?

I found one on sale, 50% off for $69.99... but that seems expensive to me as a FTM... i dunno...any help would be appreciated

If you feel like it's too much, keep looking. I am sure you can find a bag that would work as a diaper bag for less. It doesn't need to be called a diaper bag to be used as one.

If it's 2x that much to begin with, I would expect it to last a long time! Otherwise, I don't like to spend more than $50 regular price on a diaper bag. I think the one we got this time around was about $40-$50 on sale and it was JJ Cole, so I feel like (*hope) it will last a good while because it's a good name. I guess it just depends on your budget really! With DD, we ended up getting 2 diaper bags at shower and kept both of them. I'd say we used the first one $30 at walmart for the first year and the other $30 at baby depot for the 2nd year. We are on our 3rd bag from Thirty-One and DD is about to be 3. Big Smile

Thanks for the tip. Its an OiOi brand (no idea if taht's good or not) leatherette bag. I'll keep researching

The first one I bought lasted me roughly a year. I believe I paid $60 for it and within that year it looks beat to hell. It was a JJ Cole Mode Tote Bag. Cute but I hated it after a while. It holds way more than I need it to.

I JUST ordered my new one today from BabySteals. Regularly $160 and I paid $60. It's the OiOi Slouch Tote. I wanted something a little more "purse" like as my last bag was so gaudy and huge. I was going to purchase the Skip Hop Studio but this one seemed to be better quality and is cheaper so I went and sniped it up while I could.

Honestly, I LOVE bags and would pay up to $200 for a bag I really really liked. But now being a single mom with nearly two in diapers I need something in my price range. The bag I found today is valued at more than double my price range and is just what I am looking for.

Do NOT go super cheap with a diaper bag.

Seems you are looking at the other one I considered buying on BabySteals. I ended up buying the slouch tote. Honestly, It's a great brand, great quality and definitely worth the price if you can afford it at the moment. OiOi is one of the best brands for diaper bags. I'd go for it.

spend what's in your budget and then find one you like in the price range you can afford. My 1st diaper bag was just a carters bag I picked up at the outlet for like $35 and it's great. Still held up. Then when my kids got a little bigger & I wasn't carrying so much around I got my PPB on an online sale. I love it but I wanted to wait to snag it at a good price. There's so many options out there, I'm sure you'll find one you like at your price point. Sometimes sites like zulily have designer bags on deep discounts.

I think it's relative to what you are used to. I bought a Kate spade black diaper bag with my first. It was certainly an 'investment', about $300, but I knew I would be able to use it for all of my kids. Sure enough, 2.5 yrs later I feel confortable using it again style wise and it's condition wise.

There is no normal, it's whatever your budget is and what your heart desires! There was only one bag I wanted and it was a Coach! It's classy and fits my personal style!
