Is there a way to skip a period?

Let me start off by saying that I know it's not good to mess with mother nature/your body/natural cycle and so on but...........

I used to take birth control and once because my period was going to be showing up the week of my wedding I didn't take the placebo pills so I could skip my period and it worked out great. DH and I are heading to the Dominican in 2 weeks for our very late honeymoon and guess what my period is most likely going to start the day before we leave....ugh! Side note, I do not have light periods, I have the heavy have to wear a tampon and a pad and still worry type period.

Anyone know of any natural ways to either lighten up a period or even better skip it all together? I had my tubes tied so I'm no longer on birth control and it would be too late for that method to work at this point anyway. I've done some googling and there is some info on different herbal type things that might work but every website says something different so who knows if any of them actually work or not.

Obviously I'm planning on just having to deal with it but thought I would ask. Maybe there is something out there that I've never even heard of:)

  • No...in order to skip it you have to mess with something on the hormonal level, so even if some herb claimed to do that (which is doubtful), the sudden hormonal changes could make you feel like crap your whole vacation.

  • Dom. The RX people use to lactate will make you skip periods.  If you are looking for truly natural, like a herb then I think you are out of luck.  Ask the ladies on the Breastfeeding board about Dom

  • Unfortunately, there's not much you can do at this point. It's too bad you didn't notice it a month or 2 ago and your OB could have given you a sample pack of pills for a month or so. At this point anything you do may end up screwing you up even more and like pp said you'll be miserable your whole vacation.
