  DS always hated bathtime from the day we brought him home. I started taking him and his tub into the shower with me, and he's really enjoyed it. Now that he's sitting up well on his own for extended periods, I thought I'd give a "normal" bath a shot on Monday night. I put his infant tub inside of my big oval garden tub, and put him in it. BIG mistake. As soon as his feet hit the water, he flipped.out. He was wiggling and struggling so much to get me to pick him up that he was slipping and sliding all over the tub, exacerbating the problem and causing him to freak out even more. He did calm down for about 5 minutes and played with the bubbles while I wiped him down with a washcloth, but as soon as the water was poured on his head so I could wash his hair, we were back to squirming/clinging for dear life to the sides of the infant tub/grabbing my arms/slipping around and almost dunking himself/terrified screaming like I was trying to murder him. Needless to say I managed to wash/rinse his hair one-handed....and we'll be back to taking showers.

  I may try putting a couple of inches of water in my tub and bringing him into the "big tub" with me, just to see if that might make him a little more comfortable with it. If not, then I guess I just have a shower kid for a while.

   

  ETA: Your DS is SO stinkin cute! You can already tell he's gonna be a heartbreaker when he grows up. Lock up your daughters, ladies!

  Wow that sounds just like what Jonah does--he like clings for dear life and he hates when the water gets poured on his head too!! I hope it's a phase!

   And thank you I think he's pretty special too but I'm very baised! I'm going to try and keep him away from the girls for as long as I can so that I can keep him all to myself! At least until he's 30 or something.

  I don't know if this is up your alley, but like PP, I bring Isaac into the "big tub" with me. I hated the infant tub -- he was too slippery -- so it was just easier for me to get into the tub with him. He hates water in his face and hates when I rinse the front of his head, but the crying lasts for 2 seconds. Once we're done, he plays with his toys and he's fine. It's also nice bonding for us (or for him and my husband if he does bath time). I'm hoping this will create a sense of security for him once we hit the pool.
