Freaking Out!!

DS was born 4.5 weeks early so we've been on lock down until recently when we started to visit family.  Our doctor said that at 2 months he is more confident in LO immune system so we can start to bring him around more people.  We are up visiting my family (about 2 hours away from where we live) for the week.  Last night we were at my sister's house and my elderly aunt came by to visit and see DS.  She didn't touch him but stood next to him-  today we got a call that my aunt was rushed to the hospital because she was throwing up all day and was running a 102 fever.  She is at the hospital right now and they are running test to see what is going on with her.  Thank God it's not pneumonia but they don't know what is going on with her.  I'm scared for my aunt that there might be something really wrong and I'm scared that maybe DS was exposed to something.  I'm not sure what to do...DS is fine and seems to be healthy. Should I call our pediatrician?  If I did call I don't even know what to say.  What would you do?

Also, let me say that my aunt watches my cousins little girl every day and so far she is ok and is not showing any of the symptoms.

Re: Freaking Out!!

  • with older folks it is usually a bladder infection or something to do with chronic illness. I would wait to hear what the test results are but keep a close eye on LO

This.  Hopefully it turns out to not be something serious (or contageous).  As soon as you know what it is though, I'd let your pediatrician know, even if it's not contageous.
