Re: TTT

  • 1.  We have finally gotten to the root of N's stomach issues and sleepless nights! and drum roll, please... he has dairy and soy allergies. Which couldn't suck more since his mama is a dairy addict.  But I have bought every milk substitute on the planet (and in doing so, discovered the soy allergy) and have finally found my groove.  I decided enough was enough and went dairy free on February 8th (his pedi said he wasn't allergic) and I am still alive. But ohhhhhh what I would give for a tall glass of ice cold 1%.

    2.  N is no longer sleeping his nights in 45 min stretches.  Hooray!  He is up to 3.5 hours for the first sleep and 1.5 hours on.  He was up to 6 hours but then I f'ed everything up adding copious amounts of soy and backwards we went (with sleeping.  Not the other issues)

    3.  And I also became terribly addicted to So Delicious coconut chocolate peanut butter swirl ice cream (ohmygod - YUM!) and ate 3 pints of it in the last week or so, only to come down with terrible stomach aches and then read it is a laxative.  Also probably a factor in the sleeping replase.

    4.  Yeah.. moderation, what?

    5.  But it has been WEEKS since he has pulled away, while nursing, back arched screaming until his tiny little body is exhausted.  So the setbacks are a ok with me!

    6.  Valentines day blows when you are dairy free

    7.  K is on vacation this week and it is wonderful!  I love having her home for the whole week!   It couldn't have happened during a better week.  N's personality is really starting to come through.  He is playing and laughing all day.  I don't know if it is his age or the fact his belly no longer hurts but holy cow, he is hilarious!

    8.  Oh and how did I discover for sure it was dairy?  on top of his stomach issues clearing up (he was misdiagnosed as reflux), his poop is 'normal' for the first time, his cheeks which were raw and red, are clear and pink, his persistent nasal congestion is gone and his diaper rash is no more.  and then I ate steak tips.  I kid you not.  He is so allergic, beef affects him.  Not a problem, since I don't usually eat it but I had steak tips this past weekend and he had the most horrible stomach, screaming episode yet and his cheeks immediately turned bright red and rashy.  It was so bad I had to call his doctor and she confirmed that some babies with bad allergies react to beef.

    9.  I feel like a horrible mother for not figuring it out sooner.  :( which is why my whole TTT is about this.  I *knew* it wasn't reflux and had him tested for dairy months ago... had I known then, that the test is inconclusive, I would have done this months ago.. horrible.

    10.   He is starting to stick his bum in the air, when he is on his belly, occasionally falling asleep like that.  It is mind blowingly adorable!

  • 1. Yup, it's Tuesday.

    2. It's 10:38 and I haven't really accomplished all that much yet.  And my boss wants to meet with me at 11a so I probably should get a few things cleared off my desk.

    3. We had to buy a new furnace yesterday.  Yay for better heat, boo for the cost.

    4. I made my coworker chocolate-mint cupcakes.  I even made little chocolate mint leaves for the top.  I hope he likes them.

    5. Today is also the day that coworker and I weigh in for our corporate weight-loss challenge.  Guess I'll have the cupcake after the weigh in.

    6. I want coffee.

    7. I shall go make coffee.

    8. Reviewing my job description proves my job has really changed in the 3+ years I've been here.

    9. We put all the baby stuff in the attic this weekend.  It made me sad.

    10.  Sleep, I miss you.

  • 1. I showed Owl how to stack blocks last night, she didn't want to at first but with lots of encouragement finally stacked 3 high.  Yes

    2. I love Veggie Tales, I could watch them all the time.

    3. I got the girls to help clean the house yesterday, they were so helpful.

    4. My goat, Sweetness, loves me.  She likes to stand between my legs when I water in the back, runs to me when I open the gate, and follows me around so she can get pet.

    5. We are almost done with the nursery!  We bought a bedding set for the crib, new curtains, a play tent, and a toy box at Ikea this weekend.  I just need some art for the walls, a dresser and maybe a colorful rug and we should be good to go.

    6. Speaking of Ikea, we found an African American doll there for Iz, s/he (it's up for interpretation) is perfect for her.  There were also Asian and caucasian dolls, I would have liked to see a Hispanic doll though.

    7. Our diapers (just the inserts) have some stink issues, J says they smell like fish, I think it's time to strip and switch detergents.

    8. I got caught staring at another baby wearing mom this weekend, her wrap was beautiful and I wanted to ask about it but chickened out when she saw me staring.

    9. Who knows of a good baby signing website or app?  I am trying to sign with Owl but don't know too many signs.

    10. I mailed our taxes in Friday, I wonder how long it's going to take to get them back, especially the adoption credit.

  • 1) I am really excited about the new sitter for Ky.

    2) I am also SO nervous because I have never really left her alone with anyone I did not know that was not at a center where there are several other people responsible for her well being not jsut one lonely adult...

    3) After last night I am not sure I am ready for a newborn again...Ky was up every hour crying for no apparent reason. She was dry, did not want the milk I offered, did not seem too hot....

    4) Also hats off to those of you who bedshare...Ky is a nightmare reminding me again why she got moved to her nursery at 5 weeks old. Mommy needs her sleep guys.

    5) I have been on a major bread baking kick lately. Last night was cheesy italian bread...oh so good staright from the oven.

    6) I should feel bad about #5 because DW does not eat much bread because of lap-band surgery but I do not because Ky and I both have a carb addiction.

    7) DW took a pregnancy test today...the earliest possible day....and did not let me see it saying it was negative but then in conversation on the way into work today she said there was a shadow of a second line. ACK! Now I wish I had seen the stupid thing. I do not think she understands a line is a line on a pregnancy test because she is used to the dumb ovulation tests.

    8) So of course she wants to test again tomorrow but used the last pregnancy test today and wants me to buy more. I am against early testing and think we should wait until Saturday.

    9) I am so sick of work.

    10) My lunch break today consists of going to the post office and probably the store...maybe getting the Subway i have been craving for weeks now.

    2. I love Veggie Tales, I could watch them all the time.

Me too!!! I put them on (Netflix has an amazing amount of them available) when Ky and I are home alone even though she does not watch because I love the songs. We "watched" the Veggie Tales Live Silly Songs Countdown last night while I was kneading dough and Ky danced around the kitchen while I sung along to the song of the cebu...my fave.

  • 1. We bought lots of organic vegetables yesterday.  The us of 3 years ago would not recognize our shopping cart.

    2. Training new staff is tiring.

    3. We took Friday off, so this week is a 3 day week.

    4. There's cake in the kitchen at work.

    5. We went to bed way too late yesterday.

    6. Some kid in the hallway is screaming the abc's.

    7. Do you think Femara is working?

    8. Daycare is expensive.  Like really expensive.

    9. I would like a nap.

    10.  I also would really like to go on vacation.

  • 1. I spent 12m 54s of my morning listening to a grandmother scream at me. But I guess I have killer customer service since by the end she was calling me "honey." LOL.

    2. It is supposed to be 70 degrees here this week. And then in the 40s this weekend. Boo. I need warm weather to take the kids to the playground and to get this mud dried up.

    3. L's big birthday is coming up next week. We don't typically do gifts, but I have purchased several things that she has mentioned (and a few she hasn't.)

    4. We are having friends over this weekend for dinner. It has been awhile since we had people over. I forgot how stressed L becomes about having people over. For her it is the chance to do everything around the house that she thinks need to be done. Exhausting.

    5. I went through a drawer this weekend filled with gift cards. I finally sat down with the phone and checked the balance on them. Ended up with $50 at PBK, $10 at Starbucks, $27 at BRU, $22 at Best Buy, and $21 at LL Bean. Whoo hoo.

    6. I eat too much at work. I am constantly starving. At home I don't snack much at all. Stress? Sitting? I don't know.

    7.  We are thinking of taking the kids to see You're a Good Man Charlie Brown this weekend. I am trying to decide if i think they will sit through it. It is a good chunk of change. But they love the soundtrack.

    8. I waffle at work between feeling like someone's mother (and not to my own children), the gestapo,  a pretend doctor, and a secretary.

    9. I would love to pick up the kids early from school and go home. But they have tae kwon do at school till 5:45. Boo.

    10. Off to find lunch. I have had this open since 11am.

See if your library has Signing Times videos. They are awesome. The kids loved watching them (lots of songs) and they eventually learned about 70 signs. I think there are some clips on You Tube too. Rachel (the host) was like a member of our family for a year. :)

  • 1. I have a crush. BIG TIME.

    2. I haven't felt this way in sooooo long. Like really giddy cheesy grin kinda happy.

    3. And it seems that the feelings are quite mutual. Bonus. Wink

    4. We have an official date on Saturday. I am supposed to meet her at her place and we'll hang for a bit before going to a jazz club for dinner and a show. Flowers? Wine? Both??? I want to do this right.

    5. Someone is so gonna notice this permagrin. Seriously.

    6. My realtor called on Friday and things are moving forward a bit more, I have a bunch of edited papers to fax back this morning. I don't want to jinx it, but I think I'm going to be a homeowner!

    7. Can you say everything is happening at once???

    8. E and I had a kinda hard weekend. I couldn't tell if she was just overtired or what but we had our moments. Here's to a better rest of the week!

    9. Somehow amidst all that's going on I need to get better sleep.

    10. I am so glad this is a short week, I can't wait for the weekend!!!

    1. This has become quite the Tuesday. I never knew your responses could help ease the tension between C and I. HUGE fight last night seems so long ago.
    2. However, I am still not going to friend her. MANY reasons go into this decision.
    3. The Kiddos are growing so fast and STTN has become more the norm.
    4. It is so strange to have C home on a day I am teleworking. I am having a hard time working...as you probably can tell Embarrassed.
    5. We have yet to find a theme for the Kiddos birthday party. I am so sad that I leave the country the day after they turn 2.
    6. I think we are going to pancake night at the church tonight...this should be interesting.
    7. The Kiddos are talking so much and using complete sentences, even singing words to songs. They almost have the dance moves to the Cha Cha Slide down pat.
    8. Performance review time...hopefully, just a couple of minutes of a pat on the back and then on to conversation about my current project.
    9. It is supposed to be beautiful this week, maybe I will be sick Thursday Angel.
    10. C and I have decided to find ways for us to spend more alone time...hope we stick to it.

  • 1. We begin inseminations next month!  I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. We both want this so badly.

    2. We had our first lunch date out in a long while yesterday. Sadly the service at the restaurant was horrible and it took 45 minutes to get our food. At least it ended up being free.

    3. I think my dog is getting cabin fever. She wakes me up between 7 and 8 am every morning ready to play. She has also been getting into a lot of mischief lately by getting back into her chewing/shredding phase. I was so glad to be over that....

    4. J goes on vacation next week!  It will be so nice being together all week, even though we have a ton of stuff to do.

    5. I have lots of cleaning to do (in the kitchen and our bedroom in particular) but have no motivation to do it.

    6. It's freezing with on and off snow all day. I'm ready for spring.

    7. I need to make an eye appointment sometime very soon. Boy, I really think I need some glasses.

    8. I just decided I'm making spaghetti with lean ground turkey and a mushroom tomato sauce for dinner. Yep, that sounds amazing.

    9. That's all I have this week.

  • 1.  After being in the hospital for a week, I'm so very sick of it.  I miss home.  On the flip side, I don't want to go home, because that means leaving the babies here.

    2.  It's been a long time since either of us was a patient, usually we're on the flip side and being the nurse.  This experience has made us both realize how incredibly s***ty some nurses are.  There are so many things I have promised myself I will never say or do to a patient.  (Not that I was that rowdy before, but you know what I mean).

    3.  Gabriel moved to the NICU the other day instead of the special care nursery.  It is hard having them be so far apart, and I'm praying that everything works it's way out with him and he stabilizes enough to come back to special care nursery soon--Isabella misses him.

    4.  Come on breast milk, we need you!  I'm really looking forward to the full on breast milk showing up.

    5. We obsessed with these babies.  Although we're biased, I can't believe how beautiful and cuddly they are.

    6.  I'm not planning to take leave until they come home.  I've had like 9 days off, but I'll be going back to work on Saturday.  That may just be the most painful day of my life.  I am DREADING it.

    7.  Our families have been more supportive than I imagined, especially my mom and sister.  We have enjoyed their company and my parents keep buying a lot of things.  Obviously I don't expect that, but it sure is nice.

    8.  I can't believe how much the rest of my life doesn't matter anymore.  I've paid nearly 0 attention to anything else besides Mel and the kiddos.  School doesn't matter, home doesn't matter, the bills don't matter, etc.

    9.  I hope we get a sleep room in the special care nursery or at the Ronald McDonald house over at the NICU.  At least for a couple days, so we don't have to just leave, and leave them here.

    10.  I'm surprised how well I'm doing with getting no sleep, and I'm so proud of Mel.  She has been pushing through all the pain, getting up every 3 hours to pump, and she's so beautiful trying to breast feed and just loving on these babies.  I really feel like my life is now everything I've ever wanted and more.

  • 1. Ten things... Ten things... Can I even come up with ten things?

    2. We're closing on the new house on Wednesday next week. I'm excited/nervous/excited.

    3. We're going there tomorrow to measure a couple of rooms and figure out what we want to do about the kitchen.

    4. J is saying SO much these days! We counted 22 words yesterday... Not bad for our little trilingual boy!

    5. He actually asked for an apple today by saying "apple". Well, more like "apo". Which is SO FRIGGIN' CUTE!

    6. My assistant is kind of driving me crazy. I need her to work and not be so dependent on me telling her what to do.

    7. I can't wait to be home with my family. Sometimes it's hard to come back to work after a long weekend of having them with me 24/7.

    8. K and I had some, ahem, adult time yesterday. I need to remember to be more intentional about scheduling adult time, 'cause it ain't happenin' any other way...

    9. I finally found a beer I truly enjoy! Sam Adams Imperial White... Yum!

    10. I wish coffee would just materialize in my hand right now. *yawn*

  • 1. My dad, sister and 17 mo nephew arrive tomorrow for a week. The plan is to work on some project around our house (my dad), explore Seattle and spend time together (in celebration of my birthday next week).

    2. Installing a car seat in my car (for my nephew) is weird, the fact that we had a car seat already is even more so (but I won it at a professional conference).

    3. I need to do a bunch of stuff around the house today. I have a whole list and a whole day, we'll see how that goes.

    4. I need to organize the list of house projects to go over with my dad. He loves this stuff, but I also want to make the list manageable and prioritized so he'll relax a bit while he's here (ha, who am I kidding, "relax" and my dad don't go together).

    5. Someone in my family recently went through a very difficult experience which has had ripple effects and a lingering impact. Another person is dealing with some serious mental health challenges. This is hard, hard stuff.

    6. I love being home with C and finding our rhythm as a couple again. This week with comapny will throw it off again a bit, but I know we'll find it again as we always do and I look forward to it every time.

    7. I'm not sure how much I've shared here over the years, but C and I have had our share of challenges, and I have to say, I feel more confident and secure in our relationship than I ever have before.

    8. We we going to go to a little island for a weekend in March to celebrate our b-days, but we've decided to cancel that trip and do something else instead. I'm pushing for a weekend in LA. I need some sun and would love to see more family down there.

    9. There are some exciting things on the horizon in 2012. I can't share all of them just yet, but I'm looking forward to at least one AW post in the coming week or two.

    10. I'm definitely in a half full mood today.

  • 1.  I am on vacation this week.  It is nice but I was in school this morning for a while and have to go in tomorrow too.  Boo.

    2.  I have a 3 hour training on skype tomorrow.  I am not looking forward to it.  I have someone from the company we are getting the curriculum from coming.  I am not looking forward to it.  I hope it is not too annoying.

    3.  I put E's hair in little poofs today (kind of like looped pig tails) it looked really cute.  One of the women at daycare redid her hair after nap and it looked even better. I need hair lessons.  She looks so much like a big girl today!

    4.  I think I have picked out a theme for E's birthday party...that will happen in July.  I have a problem and its name is pinterest.  Garden/Woodland fairy is the current front runner.

    5.  I got a pedi today and then took myself out to lunch and had two glasses of wine.  I want to nap but it was worth it.

    6.  Tried to take E to a play place yesterday and it was full when we got there. Boo.  So we went out to breakfast.  E actually did great and it was a pleasant meal.

    7.  Have not booked a place in p-town yet.  Must do that.

8 Ella is zoning out watching wow wow wubzy but moved to sit next to me on the couch she is very snuggly right now.  Her nose is running she better not be getting sick.

    9.  My parents get back from vacation next week.  If E gets sick I will need my mom.  I can not miss anymore work.

10  Ella is doing better at peeing on the potty.  Not asking to go yet but going when we put her on especially in the morning.  That girl can take a big pee int he am. She actually pooped on the potty yesterday!  Yes.

  • 1. I had a really nice weekend with my family.

    2. We got a chance to spend some nice quality time with each of the children and it helped me realize/accept how wonderful 3 kids is for us.

    3. DW and I also got out on a fancy date!  it was lovely :)

    4. Today we almost adopted a new kitty but he failed the dog test.  So, we'll be keeping an eye out for a better fit.

    5. Yesterday was RB's "Yes Day" and today was Sprout's. The differences in what each of them wanted to do was really funny and cute.

    6. Right now Daisy is singing/yelling from her crib: "mamamamamaaaaa!!!!  baba! baba! baba!"  Hmmm, guess the baby would like more milk?

    7. All the paperwork has been completed for the adoption. Now just waiting on a date.

    8. We developed the pictures from the kids' last visit with mom and got them back today. there are some really nice ones I'm so happy to have.

    9. and there was a random belly shot that I'm sure one of the kids took without realizing which is...ironic.

    10. In true form to how my life has been lately, after my joyful wonderful weekend, today my Nana passed away.  Her health has been declining lately but the last decline was very sudden (I got one call from my dad saying we should get over to see her in the next couple days.  45 minutes later, another call saying she had passed).  I havent told the kids yet.  I'm dreading it.  Aside from our cat, this is the first death we've experienced together.

  • Wednesday amnesty edition:

    1. CT, I'm sorry about your grandma :( It's so hard.

    2. I have been checking in a bit but I can't figure out how to get my iPad to let me type responses. It will open a box but then I can't make the cursor or any letters show up. Jen took the laptop and I haven't been at work since Thursday (took Friday off on purpose, 3-day weekend, then had to take yesterday off to deal with the car shipping since Monday pick-up didn't work out).

    3. I'm glad to have the car taken care of. It was a pain to find a place where he could meet me with his giant car-mover but I could also take the bus/subway home. (The answer: The BJ's in Alexandria. DASH bus picks up right there.)

    4. I made an appointment to have a hair cut and brow wax on Thursday so I will look cute for Jen when we see each other late next week. Priorities. Smile

    5. I have three days of work left. OMG.

    6. I loved the first song Blaine sang last night on Glee. The rest of the ep, not so much. What, not even the competition songs can be actual show choir arrangements now?

    7. This weekend was a whirlwind, but I spent time with so many different friends - it was wonderful.

    8. I think I'm almost out of stuff to pack. I'm going to deal with the bathrooms and non-refrigerated food tonight. I'm sure come Saturday morning I will be laughing at what an idiot I was to say that I was almost done on Wednesday.

    9. I wonder if the guy who owns the Hallmark store downstairs gets tired of the relentless march of holidays.

    10. If you sent me something to review yesterday and got my away message, maybe that 8:30am reminder email was not totally necessary.
