So "they" say you can feel movement earlier in second pregnancies. I'm just wondering, how early is earlier? I haven't felt anything yet, I'm just wondering when I should start to expect to.
I didn't feel anything with DD until 18-20 weeks (is it pathetic I can't remember when I started feeling movement with her? lol)
Re: Movement in 2nd + pregnancies
I'm thinking 15 or 16 weeks is about the earliest most people can feel it. It also depends on where you placenta is; an anterior placenta will make it harder to feel the movements early.
I never said I felt anything, I just was wondering when to start looking for movement
People are really touchy about this subject, especially on The Bump. You'll know when you feel the baby. You know exactly what the baby feels like and you can most certainly distinguish those early baby flicks and flutters from gas. I don't know about you, but I don't have gas pains in my uterus. I have them much higher above my belly button.
That being said, I felt my first flutter with #1 at 14w (standing in Ann Taylor Loft shopping for bridesmaid dresses for my friends wedding) and my first little flick with #2 at 12w (sitting at my desk in my office). Call me crazy, but I think I felt that flick twice this morning while sitting at my desk. Who knows what it was (it was the center of my belly about 2 inches below my belly button, exactly where baby would be)... we'll see if it continues. I really don't care if others think I'm crazy or not (hell, I seriously did a double take until I felt it again 2 minutes later) but you definitely know what the baby feels like now.

I felt my son at 15w5d. I was in Babies R Us. I SWEAR I felt a flutter today in the car. It definitely wasn't gas.

I don't think it's that you can feel it sooner, but that you know what it feels like so you don't mistake it for other body movements like digestion. I felt my first daughter at 14 weeks, but I was extremely underweight initially... don't know if that affected it at all.
I expect it will be about the same this time around.
And, no, I don't remember every detail of my first pregnancy either! You think you'll never forget, but time passes and it becomes much harder to remember.
Yeah, this is one of those sensitive topics and everyone will swear that you can't feel movement until 14+ weeks, but I will swear that I felt DS at 12 weeks. I was sitting at my desk, hunched over, and I got a few very distinct "punches" that you might describe as flutters or spasms. I confirmed this at my 13 week NT scan....baby did a sommersault and I felt it at the same time. Tech said it wasn't completely unheard of. This continued until I felt the full-on tummy-rolling kicks at 20 weeks..... I did not have an anterior placenta, so this can help.
Call me crazy again, but I think I've felt this one already.....only while hunched over my desk at work, after eating. And really only a few times, not every day. And it's certainly not gas, nor is it similar to the phantom spasm I felt after DS was born. So, to each his own......you know your body!
