August 2011 Moms

My body is alllll out of whack.

At 4 months postpartum, my milk dried up and I had no choice but to stop nursing.

This weekend, I have been waking DRENCHED in sweat...I'm talking my clothes soaked and the bed soaked (similar to how it was right after I had her). I then was getting ready to shower, and noticed I am leaking colostrum.

How does this make any sense at all? Has anyone else gone through this?

  • I would agree with the other girls, but I think you previously said your hubby had a vasectomy?!  Or am I off my rocker?  Lol.

I don't have any insight... very weird.

That's whackadoodle! I know you said your H has a vasectomy but holy crap, that sounds like you are PG!

And if it's not that (beacuse it likely isn't if your H is "fixed"), you may want to check-in with your doctor. Any drainage from your breasts that is unexpected should be checked out. I'm not trying to be alarmist but it's worth a check-up to just make sure everything is in order!

ITA w/Mrs Skull on this...you really should go get checked out...after you POAS. TandB has a good point - just cause hubs is neutered doesnt mean a couple of overachieving swimmers couldnt have jumped the gap. Wink

  • Quite a few of my friends who have weaned their breastfed babies report up to a year of leakage and other lovely phenomenon afterward.  It takes the body some time in order to readjust all those hormones.

A few years ago I had a miscarriage around 16 weeks and though I never had noticed colostrum production during my pregnancy, several months after the miscarriage occasionally some fluid would come out.

I am definitely not pregnant. I just finished my period a day ago, and it lasted 5 days straight and was a mini tsunami. LOL!

I am hoping this is all it is. If it continues for longer, I will call my doctor. It's just really odd!

  • I haven't had leakage but definitely night sweats.  My supply dried up at 3 months and still am experiencing them.  I also find that I sweat more in the day too :(
