**Sinafey**

So I want to try your no 'poo thing for a while and see how it goes. Can you break it down for me logistically speaking?

Do you keep the baking soda IN the shower in an airtight container? (I'm picturing a canister like you'd store flour or sugar in.) Keep the ACV in it's original container IN the shower, as well?

Thanks!

Re: **Sinafey**

  • I keep a mason jar filled with baking soda on my bathroom counter, and dump about a tablespoon into a cup before I get in the shower.  When I'm ready to "shampoo" I add a few tablespoons of water to it and then slowly dump it on my hair, trying to focus most of it on my scalp and areas that get more oily.  Then I massage my scalp with it (it won't lather or anything) and rinse.

I keep the plastic ACV bottle right in the shower.  I put about a cup of water in the same cup as before, then add about a tablespoon of ACV.  This I focus on my hair vs. my scalp, and try to really distribute it pretty evenly.  I leave it on for 2 minutes or so (though I've been curious how long other people do) and then rinse thoroughly.

While it's still wet I rub about 5 drops of argan or jojoba oil into my hands and then distribute it through my (short) hair, but my hair's always been super dry. I know lots of other people don't use any oil.

Good luck!  I've hated my hair my whole life, and while it's still not model quality or anything I've been really happy with my results.  It's the easiest and most satisfying eco-friendly switch I've made.

Where do you buy the oil?

  • They have jojoba oil at HEB, Sprouts and Whole Foods.  I like the Now Foods brand.  I haven't found pure argan oil locally, I like the Watts Beauty brand from Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/Watts-Beauty-ArganGoldTM-Certified-Organic/dp/B005GXVVH2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1329873901&sr=8-2

Also, I paid WAY more than that... Good deal right now!

  • I'm glad you asked, August! I've been flirting with the idea for a while, and this is really helpful.
