We are considering Madelyn Grace in our final three name choices for our baby girl, but am curious to see what others think on the name. Madelyn is such a cute little girls name, but I am not sure how I feel about it when she is older (as in 30 and working)? Thoughts?
Re: Thoughts on Madelyn
Exactly this.
Sorry, I'm with this too. I just don't have anything positive to say about it. I'm sick of it.
I think of Madeleine Albright as a good example of how the name can fit on an adult (no Maddy of course). I like this name.
Yep.

Yep. Exactly this. I personally know 7 Madelyn's (or variations of) all under the age of 5. And I really don't know that many kids. Pretty name, but I'm so, so sick of it.
Same.

This is our baby girl's name so I love it! We origionally prefered the traditionally spelling of Madeline (I hate when ppl try to change names) But my sis had a good point that ppl will call her Mad-e-line which is not her name it is Mad-e-lin so we decided on the spelling for phonetic reasons.
I think the popularity depends on your location - I only know about 2 Madelyn/Madeline's and none of them are called Maddie. And I am a substitute teacher so I sub at about 5 schools and encounter alot of children.
Madeline/Madeleine is a fine name, classic and pretty and grows up well, although it is a little stale with all the lame spin-offs as of late. I hate the Madelyn spelling.
Since Madeline is so popular, I definitely wouldn't go with Grace as a middle name, though. Or Rose or Claire or any of the other common middle name names. She'll probably appreciate a little uniqueness.
It definitely won't be just a kid name when the current crop of small kids grows up. I think it'll be more like Jennifer or Deborah or Dorothy where you have a pretty good idea how old the person is just because the name rose so high and then fell so quickly.
I prefer the Madeline spelling, even though the pronunciation is ambiguous. I'm not wild about Maddie, and it feels inevitable with any of the variations (and Madison, which is also super popular these days).
I love it no matter how "overdone" it is! My husband and i
Have "madalyn" or "Madeleine"? as #1 on our girls list. I do kinda of agree that unless Grace has a meaning to you, it's too trendy for my taste ESP because Madelyn is so popular. Good luck!
