This is a XP from the toddler board. Hoping over here to see if anyone has experience with this. Recently, my LO has been getting these muscle spams, but only while eating. It is actually pretty scary to watch. At first I thought he was choking because his entire body was becoming tense and he was clinching his teeth. I did some research on "Dr. Google" and "Nurse Youtube" and think that it may be shuttering or infantile spams or benign tremors? I plan to call his doctor tomorrow, but just wanted to know if anyone has had experience with this. I was able to catch it on video, so hopefully that will help. I just not sure why it only occurs while eating...
Re: XP: Tensing/Spasm while eating?
Sorry no one has replied.
The only thing I have heard which is similar happens in younger children who have reflux. They can feel when they are gonna burp or spit-up and have sort of made a coping mechanism of tensing to try and hold in the burp to avoid the pain of reflux.
Is it possible you child has some reflux going on? I agree that you should get a video of it and keep a list of exactly when it happens & what he is eating at the time, is it cold or hot food, is he more tired than normal etc...
Another idea I have is that he could be experiencing some sensitivity or nerve pain with his teeth and certain foods? Good luck!
