We are currently pregnant with our third child. This will be our first time delivering at Vassar brothers in Poughkeepsie. We are having a repeat c-section. I have heard some positive and some negative things about their care for newborns after a c-section. I've heard things like the baby is kept away from the mother for several hours after the c-section and that they won't let you breastfeed in recovery which has taken hours and fathers not allowed to be with the baby during the bath/shots/etc. I'm trying to calm my nerves but I need to hear real stories and experiences.
So, What was your c-section like at Vassar? How long before you were reunited with the baby? Please be honest because I need to prepare!
Re: C-sections at Vassar brothers in Poughkeepsie
I didn't have a c-section but my first was born at Vasser and we LOVED it there. Honestly, I've never heard a negative thing about them. The rooms are great, wonderful view from each one, a buffet meal for you and the dad three times a day.
And the nurses were AMAZING. My husband got to be in the room when they bathed her. And they are very pro-breastfeeding there so I really can't imagine they would NOT let you. They have wonderful LCs on staff there too. Have you done a tour there? They are really informative and could probably answer all your questions and calm your nerves.
