Snowshoeing

With a baby?  What do you think?  I enjoy snowshoeing and my husband wants to take babykins with us and place her in the baby packpack.

Re: Snowshoeing

  • I would absolutely have done that this year if we had any darned snow.  We've only been able to get out once, and it happened to be on a day DD was spending with my parents.

For us it would depend on the length of the trip - for a short trip we probably would have put her in her little sled and pulled her.  Anything longer than a half hour or so and we would have taken turns with her on our backs.

I think as long as you dress LO warmly enough and keep everyone fed and hydrated, it should be fun!

  • We take our LO in our hiking backpack. I would never go alone with her, on an unmarked trail, or when it's snowing & your tracks could get covered. Just follow the basic safety guidelines, and it'll be fun!

  • We did last year. She was about three months old. It was warm out and we had a lot of snow. I took our Maman Kangourou carrier and we built a fire in the woods.

As you can see, she didn't mind:

  • Ok I am feeling more reassured and now I am getting excited!
  • Go for it.  I was out with C for 1.5 hours on Sunday.  I just bundle him up (they aren't moving so dress them on the warmer side), and put him on my back in the ergo.  We haven't had a tonne of snow but we have been out 1/2 a dozen times this winter. C loves it, he like to look around, and has even fallen asleep back there.  We had a lot more snow last winter and went 1-2 times a week  with him, I just wore him in  a front carrier under my coat.  We are planning on rigging up a sled with a hard pole for him next winter.  Have fun.
