This is probably a stupid question but why will some doctors not allow VBACs after you have had a cs? I just had a baby by cs 4 weeks ago and would really like to try to have another in a few years. I would prefer a vaginal birth if possible. Everyone says I'm lucky since my emergency cs prevented me from ever even going into labor. I feel like I missed out on the birth experience I had planned Probably feel differently if I had had a long labor. Just curious thanks for any info.
Re: Stupid CS Question
Congratulations on the birth of your child and I hope you are feeling well. I had a c-section two years ago and I too felt robbed of a natural birth, but I did the best thing for me and my son. I am pregnant again and my doctor said they allow VBAC however their is a risk of uterine rupture after labor starts, meaning I could bleed out and die and lose the baby. My trouble is I live an hour and a half from the hospital so my doctor recommends scheduling my c section a week before I'm due so I save myself and my child. It's a small chance but I do not want to risk my life or my child's. I've read a lot online about multiple c-sections or VBAC and they all differ greatly. I put my trust in my doctor and I am leaning towards another c-section. I'm no expert but that's my understanding.
Good luck, and if you feel strongly, find a doctor who allows VBACs.
Proud mother of two breech babies:)
What everyone else said. I just want to add that it's within every woman's right - even if she can't find a supportive doctor or hospital - to VBAC if she wants. VBAC and RCS are at the same risk level for most women, something that isn't discussed very often.
ACOG and the NIH have both come out in support of VBAC within the past two years. These are some good links:

OP: It's better to talk to your doctor sooner rather than later, so you can start looking for a new provider if they aren't supportive. Good luck!
DS2 - Oct 2010 (my VBAC baby!)
I had a Csection back in June 2010 and was told at my 6 week check-up that I could have a VBAC if everything went well with the next baby. I will probably have a 2nd Csection, but the opition will be mine.
Thats awesome! Which part of ms are you located in? My sister have two different docs and when they both said a repeat c section would be the only option I looked into and couldn't find one single doctor. It's nice to know there is another option!
