achy back and pain around epidural site anyone?

When I have poor posture, my back around the epidural site hurts :( This is actually one of the reasons why I wanted to go epidural free :/ My mom still has pain from it and so does an aunt of mine.

Anyone else? There were no complications when they inserted. It just tends to get sore and if I find the right spot and press it hurts :(

  • Now that you mention it, I have had some back pain since having LO. I never even thought about it being from the epidural. I don't know if my pain is in the exact spot though, but I can't remember where they put it exactly. Center of the back? Higher or lower? :)

  • I have lower back pain every.single.morning. It hurts so bad that I can't straighten up completely for a minute or so when I get out of bed. I can't tell if it's from my epi bc it's not just at the site, it's my whole lower back. I was thinking maybe I just need a new mattress, but it's the same one we had before I had my LO and I never had this problem before.

  • Well..I can't really tell top, middle, lower back,. but follow your spin down, applying pressure (atleast for me) and I can find where it is the most tender. and then bend forward slowly (like how you were positioned when they gave epi) still pressing and that is how I find the spot. I'm pretty sure it's from that only because the pain is so localized, but makes most of my back achy (obviously not top of my back). Make sense? Like I said, I think poor posture doesn't help, and when I sleep, sometimes, I still need to elevate my legs when laying sideways.

I wish I could convince my H to let me still sleep with my giant boppy pillow, but he kicked it out of the bed months ago. I slept so well with that thing!!

  • hahah- I don't use mine, I just take the comforter, and leave DH the sheet lol. He says last night he was freezing (he cracked our bedroom window- there was snow in the am!!) and I wouldn't give him any blanket!

  • I had pain on epi site starting around when DD was 4 months and it lasted a couple months. Have not noticed it lately though..

  • I continue to have pain at the site of my epidural as well as a constant black and blue bruise.  It is very tender to the touch each and every day.  It causes me problems at random times throughout the day.

I had a lot of issues right from the get go with my epi though.  I ended up with epidural headaches and had a small spinal fluid leak due to it not healing properly.

  • I had a spinal (c section) and had a lot of pain/burning in the area for months after. They had no problems getting it in, but it hurt after! I can't remember when it went away, a couple months ago I think.

  • My epi sight hurt for about a month, every time I would lean backwards.  Now I attribute it to carrying around an 18 pound baby all day :c)
