Don't get a used one. My parents had one and it kept breaking and getting replaced. But, they are kind of awesome. Your LO will be super scared of it though (at least my nephews were). I am so sick of sweeping that I'm thinking of getting a dog to eat the scraps - even though I'm scared of dogs and don't like pets at all.
I had one and it lasted literally a month past the 2 year warranty. whomp whomp. It was the last 200-ish vac we got before I splurged on a Miele... I was breaking a 200-ish one every 2 years, so as long as the Miele lasts 6 years it'll pay for itself, heh.

Yes, dogs are helpful for crumbs, but the hair they leave behind and the mud they track in is obnoxious!
I have one and almost never use it. It's not the one that does the floors, it only vacuums. Not sure why I don't use it more - Oh I know why - I have hardwood floors and 2 scatter rugs with rug pads underneath and the darn thing won't pick up what would be right on the cusp of the rug pad cause it's not on the same level (if that makes sense).
I have always thought I wanted one too. The hardwoods are such a pain to keep clean. We have no rugs as the cats would pee on them and ruin them so we gave up.
I do have a Shark Vac & Steam - I like it fairly well but it does not do well near the baseboards so I still have to pull out the old Kirby to do the edges.
Actually I would rather have a cleaning lady 2-3 days a week to keep my house clean.

Re: Is it bad I want a Roomba to clean my floors
I haven't heard about those forever. I didn't realize they still made them. Everytime I hear it I'm reminded of this SNL skit:

"It's a robot that cleans my business, my lady business... and I like that!" Tina Fey
