We had tons of posts on the ridiculous things people say to a pregnant woman. I find that now I can start to add some items to the "things you shouldn't say to a woman who just had a baby".
Let's start with my mother (who is very lucky I am not overly sensitive!):
She has been bringing us over dinner and a dessert almost every night since we got home, which has been really sweet. Then on Valentine's Day, she wanted me to know that they were going out and wouldn't bring dinner over, but she could still bring dessert. I told her we were still working on the other desserts she has been bringing over. And she says...
"Oh, okay. I guess I shouldn't over-indulge you. I know you are going to want to get to work on losing that baby weight soon."

Wow. I happily explained to her that I really hadn't gained any weight due to the GD and probably weighed less now than before I got pregnant. So that hushed her pretty quickly with an "oh."
Re: Time to start the "things you shouldn't say to a woman who just had a baby" list!
MIL came over yesterday and said "wow! You look tired!"
Really, thanks. My baby is 9 days old and I am recovering from surgery so I need you to point out how terrible I look right now. Ughhhhhh.
MIL said..."I didn't know people couldn't wear their regular clothes home from the hospital...I was smaller leaving the hospital than I was pre-pregnancy". Yea...and before that, at the end of my pregnancy...that I only gained 20 lbs during, she said..."Well, I only gained 15 lbs during pregnancy" ...really!?!? WTF?!?
My favorite example thus far has been from by BIL who visited us 1 week postpartum when we had this convo:
BIL: How has your week off been?
Me: Week off??
BIL: Oh wait, you are off right? Or did you go to work this week?
Me: Did I go in to work the week after I had the baby? No. Still, I wouldn't call it a "week off."
