DTD

Nobody really tells you how bad L&D is and how awful the recovery actually is. So ladies, spill it. If you have already DTD pp, how was it? Really. Please don't hold back.

Re: DTD

  • haven't yet this time. but with my first it hurt like the first time. :( once we got going it was ok but those first few minutes every time hurt for a while.

breastfeeding hormones make the tissues not as stretchy and interfere with lubrication. lube up. go slow. it'll get better.

  • We haven't yet this time, but last time wasn't too bad. However, I had a c-section so that would definitely change things over a vaginal birth (and since you didn't specify which you had, I figured I'd respond anyways). I was reallllly dry from breastfeeding and hormone changes so that was where the pain came from. Things also felt tighter which I don't understand. Use lots of lube!
  • With dd, we couldn't successfully dtd until I got an estrogen cream to use.  It was a long time - about 4 months pp I got the RX I think.  Then it was possible, but not enjoyable for me until dd started cutting down on the nursing sessions around 1 yr old.

We haven't tried yet this time.  But I plan to ask the OB for a RX at my appointment next week just in case.  That way I can get it filled if it seems like it's a repeat of last time without having to make another appointment and go back later on.
