Size 1 Diapers

When did you move your Lo from Newborn to size 1?  Our LO is about 8 lb and seems like Newborn is getting snug, but size 1 seem huge.  We had a few blowouts, so I thought maybe that was a sign to use size 1.  We've tried both Pampers and Huggies.

Re: Size 1 Diapers

  • We had him in newborns til he started leaking. The 1s did look large but it was so nice not going through two outfits per night because of leaking. Now we can go all night without changing him so it makes the waking shorter!

  • We moved to size 1 at about 8.5 pounds.  The newborns still fit, but they were leaving red marks and we had a blowout that was not so fun.  The ones seemed huge at first but do their job well!

  • Same for us, at about 8.5 pounds we ran out of newborn size and decided to just go to 1's. They do seem really big but they do hold alot and don't leak.

  • DS2 was 9lb 4oz at birth, so he was in size 1 from the start.
  • B moved up when he was about 3 weeks old and he was about 8 lbs.  He started leaking in the NBs so we moved up.  If you are using Pampers I recommend the swaddlers as the tabs can be fastened to each other to make it a tighter fit.

  • Ditto for us. Eventhough my baby is almost 7 weeks and still has her umbilical cord the newborns were nice for the cutout. She had a blowout in the newborns and they were getting a little snug so we went to sz 1. We just fold the top down for now.

  • We switched to size 1 when we kept having blowouts. They were big at first but I just folded them down.

  • We use Luvs 1s and we have never had a blowout. They do seem huge but I agree the newborns were snug when they hit 8lbs.

  • DS started soaking through NB size dipes around 8 pounds, so we moved up to 1s. They look huge on him, but they protect so much better.
  • We switched to size 1 when we ran out of newborn around 2 weeks. Our LO was born at 9 lbs so she could of wore either right off the bat. We noticed the size 1 pampers we had ran larger than the huggies, so we have been using the huggies for the time being.

  • We just started size 1 yesterday. She's about 11.5 pounds now but she must be trim through her midsection or something because we always seem to be above the weight recommendations on what we use.  They used preemie size on her in the hospital (although she was almost 7 pounds) and we used them until her cord came off around 2 weeks old. Never had leakage issues with the NB size, just started having blowouts up the back, so now it's nice that even though the 1's seem huge, at least the poop has further to travel!

  • DD was 4lbs 12oz at birth so she has been in NB for a while. I have a half of box left of NB so after that is gone we will switch over to size 1 because of red marks on legs. DD is about 8lbs now.

  • DS started size 1 the day he was born. He actually started wearing 1-2 two weeks ago.

  • My first 2 never wore nbs, this baby wore them until the small package I bought was gone.  My hospital didn't even use nbs for babies that weren't premies, so they always start with size 1.  I would go to size 1 based on what you are saying.  The next size up always seems huge when you first start using them.
