Hi Ladies,
I am looking into different carriers, and while Ergo and Beco seem the most popular, I am curious if anyone can offer insight on the Infantino line of carriers. They claim to offer the correct positioning like the Ergo - so I am wondering why they are so affordable. Any info would be helpful!!
Thanks
Lauren
Re: Infantino Carriers
I was totally just lurking on the AP board, but I have the Infantino Siwft and the Infantino Flip. They are both ok IMO. We don't do a LOT of babywearing, so for short time spans they do the job and especially for the price I don't regret it. If you're looking to wear baby a lot you might want to spend more money on something better. The Flip is made of nicer materials but is not very comfortable to wear and has a ton of annoying straps. It hurts my back. The Swift is more comfortable but the materials aren't as nice. Hope that helps.
I like my Wrap and Tie. I used it more than the Ergo when he was <6 months.
Haven't tried anything else. Don't buy anything that has the baby face out, or doesn't have the knees higher than the hips when you're wearing her.

Infantino is the brand that refused to voluntarily recall their "sling of death" Slingrider despite deaths. Many people in the babywearing community knew that sling was unsafe and approached Infantino about it, they didn't care. None of their current carrier line has such egregious faults, but they lost my support when they put their bottom line ahead of infant safety.
Less expensive carriers can be found used on the FSOT boards on thebabywearer.com, diaperswappers.com or on craigslist.org. A quality brand carrier like Ergo or Beco will hold up well through many years so buying used isn't a concern.
If you need any help navigating the FSOT boards feel free to page me here and I'd be more than happy to help stalk the boards to find a deal for you.
Yes, I've done it.
