Baby hair loss?

So, I know all babies lose hair atsome point. This morning, I noticedthat DS was missing a lot of hair onone side of his head. My question is, Is it normal for a baby to lose thatmuch hair overnight? Should I beworried. BTW ds is only 5 weeks.

    My little guy was right around that age when he lost the hair on the front part of his head (looked like he developed male pattern baldness!).  My pedi said it was normal - I was worried since he scalp was peeling, but she said it wasn't cradle cap.  And like you, I was worried because it seemed to happen over a day or so...I'm proud to say the hair is now growing back and he doesn't look like a little old man anymore.

    Glad to know it's nothing to worry about. DH was laughing at me this morning because I was brushing what is left of his side burns.lol I was so sad hair was gone.

    DD never lost her hair.  It looked thinner for a while because her head grew faster than new hair so it was spread out.  DS hasn't lost his yet.  And I was born with a ton of hair that didn't fall out either.

    But from talking to friends, some of their kids have had handfuls that fell out at once.  If it is where the head rests while they sleep, that is different.  But if it just falls out on it's own, it is probably just the hormonal changes happening.
