Hi there,
I'm new to this board, but I've taken the time to read through all of the past pages in hopes of not duplicating posts. I can see that the ladies on this board are very helpful!
I am new to BW, and based on what I've read, I think I've settled on either a BabyHawk mei tai or a Beco Gemini--I would love to get feedback as to which one would be best suited for me based on the following wish list:
1) will last newborn through toddler
2) will front and back carry
3) easy to put on (I've tried a woven at a BW group, and it's too much of a learning curve for me at this point)
4) ideal for TX weather (i.e., hot summers)
Based on the BabyWearer.com site, it looks like both carriers satisfy the above, but whatdo you recommend if you chose one over the other?
Thanks so much!!
Re: BabyHawk or Beco Gemini?
I have both. Both will carry a NB (7+lbs I think). I find the Gemini easier to put on. They are similar IMO.
With the BH you can get baby higher on your back. With the Gemini you fan do front carry facing out (if wanted)
A con for me with the Gemini is that the waist strap sort of rides up at times with certain pants if the waist is bulky (a belt). But it isnt a big deal if you get it on low enough...
I really do like both. For something easier and quicker to put on go with the Gemini but for something less bulky and not as warm for you and baby go with the BH....if you do not care about baby forward facing and don't mind taking a little longer to put on with the long straps
