What do you call your lo's privates?

I feel like this is a stupid question because I want to teach DS the real name for his parts and call them that, but I just feel like testicles is such a big word for a little guy to learn.  Right now I call them his little ballsies, lol.

Just curious...

We were using Who Ha but I love "lady bits"  I think we'll change to that.

I've also had friends refer to a boy as his bird & a girl as the butterflie.

    Lady bits... I love that!

  • Ummmm, we call it her "peepee" right now. Embarrassed That's for lack of knowing what to call it though.

  • When we're giving LO a shower I tell him which body parts I'm washing as I go, and I usually call it the "undercarriage." :-)

Haha! I just thought of Melissa McCarthy in Bridesmaids when she asks the undercover marshall if he can feel the heat from her undercarriage!!

I use the anatomical term... I was wondering about this too because he is starting to feel around down there.

  • I just realized today that I called it "willy wonka" for some stupid reason. I think I'll nip that in the butt right now and stop saying it. I just have visions of when he's older saying "My willy wonka hurts" or something and the weird looks we'd get.

  • Right now we say "vagina" with Stella and will do the same with Audrey.  I'm honestly not sure what we said from the very beginning with Stella though...

  • I honestly have no idea, I guess I don't refer to them that often. haha

I want her to know the proper term though when she is old enough

  • We call them her "nooks and crannies" but should probably come up with something better.

  • Good question! I use a few names.

I call it his weiner (which makes me laugh everytime I say it because I'm childish like that), penis or his little weenie (which Randy hates because it use the word little and no man should have to hear that when talking about his goods).

And then for the other I call it his little ball sac, which again makes me giggle! Maybe because I don't have one...

I do the same thing, which is why I was wondering. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one and am giggling at all the different names. I do call his penis his "little penis."

  • Girl bits.  I definitely want to teach her the proper words as soon as she can understand them.
  • Right now Halle has "lady parts".  That said, we will teach the proper term once either kid starts to care.

I have always talked to Kai about his penis, but DH thought it would be funny to teach him that it is his "junk" so he now refers to his bum and his junk.  Thank you DH.

  • I just say penis or catch myself saying "pp" alot. And I say balls even though I should probably say testicles. We also sing about what parts we are washing in the bath and I sing "washin our penis, washin our penis"

  • Sometimes I say "peepee" and "hoo ha" for the girl parts. For her other parts, I say hiney (sp) as in "high-nee" and "boobies" or "boobas"

I think I am going to change "peepee" to "lady bits" though. I think that may sound better to other people.

We teach all of our kids "Privates". We do this because they are their private parts. We don't want to offend anyone else by having a bunch of girls running around saying, Mommy, my vagina itches. I personally don't like how that sounds out of a childs mouth.

If we ever have a boy, we will teach him the same. I know a 3 year old that goes around talking about his "weiner" and asking people if they have a weiner. I find that entirely inappropriate, but that's just me.

When our girls are old enough to know the differences, we'll be sure to explain, but I was raised to say privates and that's how we'll raise our kids.

  • haha, I've been wanting to ask this question for months now!!  We personally call it her "bits" or "lady bits."  When she is older we will teach her the anatomical names to everything.

  • I have two older kids so we call it a penis and testicles.  DD has a vagina and has since she was a baby, though we didn't really use the word until she was about a year or so old.

  • Parts. MIL calls it his pee pee. Which annoys me for some reason. When he's talking we'll probably tell him the proper names, but say privates in public.

That's what my parents did. Worked for us.

  • Can I just say this post is so making my night right now!  I'm sad I missed it while it was happening, but what a great way to end my uber long day :)

and just so I'm not left out...we're going with hooha at the moment.

  • I call DS's parts his "winkie" --- or his "twig and berries."

I'm not sure what we'll call it as he gets older.

Cute story.... I was changing DS's diaper this weekend with my 3-year-old nephew in the room. He has a new sister who is 2 weeks younger than DS -- and was surprised that DS didn't look like his sister down there.

He exclaimed "Her has a pee-pee! I have a pee-pee too! Mine is big!"

He just hasn't quite figured out that his cousin is a boy. :)

The words penis and vagina aren't vulgar. And I will teach them not to talk about their vagina or penis in public. The reason it's preferable to use the real words is because (God forbid!) if something ever happened, words like privates don't hold up in court, children need to be able to say they touched my vagina, or penis, or breasts. It not really about how it sounds, to me it's more about child safety. I hate to think about things like that, but if some perv ever touches my child I want him to be able to tell me about it.

  • Funny, I was just asking DH about this over the weekend!

I call it his "boy parts".  In the bath I'll sing about the body parts we are washing.  We wash your arms, we wash your belly, we wash your boy parts, we wash your toes, etc.

DH wants us to use the actual terms like Penis instead of peepee.

  • DS will be 6 in April. He knows penis and vagina, but we still usually refer to everything as pee pee. He doesn't know testicles. He calls them his nuts, lol. He also tends to refer to his penis as his junk. Oh the joys of having a boy, lol.

  • I've got a boy and generally call his parts either his penis and testicles or his bits or his "gentleman's luggage," but just when I'm being silly.

As a child I was taught that I had a vulva. I'm surprised that more people don't use that term. It seems a bit more descriptive since a vagina is really an interior part. Don't flame me, I'll go back to lurking now. :)
