Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Return to work

Any advice about how to make the adjustment easier for both me and baby? I am lucky to have a year off with her but I am dreading the return.  Any suggestions for work from home jobs?

  • I'm also going back to work soon after taking a year of mat leave, I start back in 2 weeks. Today we started a transition period with the daycare my son's going to be at, he's going to go everyday longer and longer so he gets used to it. Today was only an hour and I stayed the whole time, but gradually he will stay longer and I will start to leave for increasing amounts of time. It's a home daycare and the DCP only has 1 other child right now (and she's not there this week) so she has the time to do it this way, many other places probably wouldn't be able to.
  • I've started back one day a week, to get Lil Man used to me not being with him all day every day. I also frequently leave him for a few hours with my in-laws and parents (they're going to share day care duty when I'm back f/t) so he'll be used to both places without me being around. I'm probably going to have a harder time dealing with being back f/t than he is! lol

  • The slow transition into daycare is a good idea.   My little girl is very attached to me and going through a clingy period but I know I will be the one crying when I drop her off for the first time!  Having grandparents help out a bit would be awesome! They get to establish their own bond and you can save money on daycare.

    Thanks for the comments.
