Introduction - my 34 week baby boy is here!

Hi - I just wanted to introduce myself, my baby boy, Austin, arrived unexpectedly at exactly 34 weeks on Friday 2/17. He weighed 5lbs 4oz at birth and is 19 inches long. I was just discharged from the hospital today, he'll be there for a few more weeks...leaving without him was pretty emotional, but I know he's in good hands. Anyway, sorry for the ramble, just wanted to introduce myself as I'm sure I'll be lurking and asking lots of questions. Thanks!

    Hi Liz! Welcome and Congrats! I know exactly what you mean about leaving empty handed it sucks. That is a great weight for 34 weeks! Ask as much as you want.

    Congratulations to you!  I had also had a big-time emotional breakdown when I left my DS after I was discharged.  I still occasionally have them when I leave, but I also know that he is in good care.  It's very normal to feel this way.

    Congrats!! Leaving your new baby is the most unnatural thing a momma can do. Hang in there, hopefully your little guy will be home very soon!

    My oldest was a 34 weeker and also weighed 5 lbs., 4 oz. and she was 19 inches long! Crazy!

    Congrats and hope you have a quick NICU stay. My oldest was only there for 2 weeks, so hopefully your LO will be home soon! It is so hard to come home without them, but you're right, he's in good hands. Take advantage of the fact that you have someone watching his every move and breath, and try to get some rest (hey, we have to look at the positives, right?).

    I also have a nephew named Austin! Nice name!

    Congrats!!  Thats a great size for a 34 weeker.Chase was a 34 weeker and was 6 lbs 9 oz 19"..i cried so much when i had to leave w/o him.  he was there 13 days and it was hard..but we visited him everyday...as hard as it was we knew he was in great hands!  Before you know it you will be on your way home with your baby!!  Good Luck!
