How bad is it?

DH and I both like the name Summer for a girl. It's still on our list for girls, but not really a contender right now because our last name is Ball and said together it sounds like some sort of event, right?

It does sound like an event, but it isn't awful. And I don't think most kids would put that together at the age where they make fun of each others' names.

I think the name Summer is cute, but probably wouldn't use any "adjective name" with your last name.

I like the name Summer but I agree with you that it is just a no-go combined with your last name. Summer Ball does sounds like an event or a sport- baseball! In addition to the school year, my brother used to play lacrosse during the summer months and they called it summer ball.

I love the name Summer but IMO, Summer Ball is is pretty horrendous. I suggest you let this one go...

Thanks! I thought so. I am so used to hearing my last name so I needed reassurance that this name sounded bad and should definitely be cut. Luckily, it wasn't our number one and we are team green so lots of other name options to pick through!

Not to sound repetitive....I think Summer is nice, although NMS, but with your last name you need to go with a strictly "name" name vs. a name with alternate meanings. That said, it is ultimately your baby and your decision so go with what you like!!!

My friend just named her daughter Summer Faith. It isn't my style but I think it is a cute name. For her they are just huge fans of the season and have a lot of great summer memories. They chose Faith because she had suffered a miscarriage right before this pregnancy and really had to rely on their faith to get through it. I think it is cute.
