Pregnant after IF

How long before graduating from RE?

I know it is early in all this, but when getting my betas back and speaking with my clinic they said they would have me until about 10 weeks. Is this the norm/average?

I was not undergoing treatment when I got my BFP, but since my RE is my main doctor right now, I guess they want me under their care. I have no problems with this :) The more care, the better! Any thoughts?

Re: How long before graduating from RE?

  • congrats :)

My RE kept me on until about 10-11 weeks, since i was on additional estrogen/progesterone support that they monitored. I had my first ob appt. at 11 weeks.

    good luck!

  • That's totally normal I was supposed to stay with mine for 10 weeks, but I had a whole bunch of appointments due to SCh bleeding that once it was cleared up and they were confident everything looked good, they released me to my OB. Congrats and GL!

  • I was 8 weeks but I actually would have preferred to stay as long as they'd have me because the weekly ultrasounds gave me peace of mind. Once you get transferred to an OB it's a great feeling but also a whole different world!

  • I graduated at 8 weeks ~ but my RE is also in a different province than me so it was impossible for me to keep seeing him.

  • My last appointment and u/s with my RE was at 8 weeks, but I was still considered under his care until my 1st appointment at 10 weeks with my OBGYN.  Meaning that if I had any problems or questions come up in the 2 weeks between appointments, I would contact my RE instead of my OB.

Exactly this!  I graduated at 10 weeks, and was really excited.  But it's somewhat of a shock to go from such detailed treatment and care, to no longer being special.  Not that I'm complaining, it's just a shock.

  • I stayed until we'd seen the hb twice - for me, my last RE appt was about 9w4d then they had me make an Ob appt.  They just told me to keep on the progesterone/estrogen until 12 weeks.

I got in to the OB within 2 weeks but now I'm on their standard 4 week appt schedule - that's kind of a bummer :)

  • Yeah, as others have said, I actually wish now I had been able to stay with the RE longer.  My OB's office is much more crowded, waits are longer and the support stay very unkowledgable...and I got alot less monitoring.

  • My RE keeps you for two u/s and then you graduate.  My next one is next Monday, at 8w1d, and then I will graduate.  I have already made my first appt. with my OB for the following Monday, so I will be 9 weeks.  I wish I could stay at my RE longer too, I love the staff there!!

Thanks to both of you!!  I agree with the bolded parts! I feel totally taken care of now, whereas with my OB I can already tell that I will be "just another PG patient".
