April 2012 Moms

Why don't they tell you this in H.S. Health?

I had to go through like...6 years of health class through middle and high school.  And in college I took a few Early Development courses...and NONE of them go over what really happens in pregnancy.  All I ever remember hearing was sore boobs, achy, nausea.  I'm pretty sure that if they really get down into the dirty details with high school kids that we would have less unplanned pregnancies.  I always viewed being preg as such a beautiful glowy time when your hair gets thicker and everyone pampers you (I lived in a fantasy world).  I, for one, am very worried that if I get any bigger I won't be able to wipe after I pee anymore.

The one perk I see today (obviously besides the outcome of this sweet baby) is that I no longer have to hold my coffee mug in my hand because it balances perfectly on my belly in between my boobs, right next to my cinnamon roll.

Anyone else enjoying something (anything??) about pregnancy

  • I was so with you on the rant part of the post.  The whole time I'm reading I'm thinking "yeah! Exactly!  They make it so vague it doesn't sound THAT bad..."

But when posed with the question "do you enjoy anything?"

heh nope, sorry.  I can't think of a darn thing

  • Haha...I'm just trying to give myself a positive outlook on the day...I've been pretty negative and whiny lately.

  • I'm jealous of your cinnamon roll. I'd be enjoying that if I had one... but I don't, so I'm enjoying... feeling LO? That always reminds me this is all worth it.

But damn a cinnamon roll would make it double awesome.

  • LOL! I'm one of those rare crazy ladies who enjoys being pregnant, even with all the down sides.

  • I'll miss feeling her move around inside me. I love reconnecting with her, at the end of the day, put my hands on my belly and feel her kick and swish. It's reassuring and comforting. I will not miss lightning crotch, kicks to the ribs and her kicking when I'm slouched over, causing her to have less space and me to not be able to breathe.

This! I love that I can balance things on my belly while I am sitting...its like an extra table...but he usually starts kicking whatever it is....he doesn't like to share the belly Smile

And I have also been having a huge issue wiping when I go to the bathroom....I feel like a t-rex and my arms are too short!

I LOVE feeling LO move. That being said, I totally agree about the not reaching thing if things progress. I really wonder how some people manage normally. I didn't expect to be among the many who pee a little all day.  Seriously, it's not a lot, but it stinks. I'm uber paranoid I smell.  Also, I think I have the beginning of cellulitis on my leg from the swelling. Yeay us. . .

  • I just said that to my husband about an hour ago.

This is not as glamorous as it's made out to be and I hear it just gets worse!

  • My HS health class did show a Discovery Channel thing about pregnancy, which did talk at least a little about how you get achey and sore, and how pre-e can be deadly. It also made it out like you get really pretty during pregnancy, though. Well, I lost a bunch of hair after conceiving, so the "thicker hair" thing just means it looks mostly normal now.

I, too, am enjoying my bump shelf, though. I put my book there, my laptop, my bowl of cereal, my phone while I rummage though my purse...it's so handy!
