What do you do when you are sooo tired/sleepy at work?

I'm dieing. I feel exhausted and incredibly sleepy.  Having a hard time getting anything done.  I just wanted to lay down and go back to sleep.

  • I get up and do a few laps, talk to some co-workers if I can...move!  :)

  • Loading the player...
  • I sometimes grab a hot tea...the little caffeine in that tends to help. This morning I grabbed a diet Coke. I've only drank half and it helped. And then, if its the afternoon, not going to lie I've shut my door and laid my head down for a few minutes. A power nap, if you can get one, really helps!

  • Maybe try getting up for a few minutes to stretch and/or walk around to get the blood flowing... if you can step outside for some fresh air that might help as well.

  • close you office door as I am abou to do and take a nap...or two lol.

  • Definitely go for a walk! Especially if you can get outside (assuming it is decent weather). The sunshine will give you a boost - even chilly air could help!

I try to go to the gym in our building. If the exercise doesn't wake me up, the shower does!

  • Lay your head on your desk for a minute... if anyone says anything just raise your head and yell "AMEN"!

  • I have a cup of coffee in the AM, which helps me stay awake during the morning. I eat a light lunch. If I start to get tired in the afternoon, I grab something to snack on that is high in protein, like almonds or apple slices with peanut butter. It keeps me from feeling so starved [that I'd eat my steering wheel if I didn't need it] on the way home, too.

    That is hysterical.

Honestly, I'm worse in the am then in the afternoon. It is like I don't wake up until noon...and pre-pergnancy I was such a morning person.  I will try walking around a little caffeine. Unfortunately, I can't really go outside as I'm in a high rise and it takes forever to get to ground level (elevator has to stop 20 times along the way) but a quick, brisk walk around my floor will hopefully help. Thanks!

  • Granny Smith apples!  I always have one with me --- there is something about them that gives you energy in a healthy way without caffeine!  I'm just can't remember what it is.
  • I teach, so I really struggle with finding the energy to go on after lunch at 10:30 (we have the earliest lunch).  So, I try to snack on something and I force myself to walk around.  My assistant tells me to go outside and walk around the building.  That helps some.

  • I had a horrible day last week. I was soo sick and I was exhausted like you are when you're getting the flu. Not gonna lie, I locked my classroom door, turned off all the lights, put on my coat and scarf and napped on my desk through my planning period.
