I need to start building a stash too. But not a huge one since I'm not going back to work. Plus we just don't have the freezer space for a monster stash. I'd rather not pump every day because, well, I don't want to. How often would you pump to get a modest stash going? Would every other day be okay?
Re: PW 1: s/o pumping
I'll be stalking this post b/c I'm wondering the same thing. huge ditto on not wanting to pump every day! At the same time, I did pump every night for DD1 and i had a decent stash that I always used up before it expired. Then again, I was also not NIP-er back then, so I was pretty anal about always having a bottle of EBM with me when I went out and about. This time, I'm a complete NIPer all the time, so I think I can get away w/ pumping every other night. I guess we could try and see if we get a good amount at each session - then there would be no reason NOT to do it every other night, right?
I pump most mornings after his first feeding (but not every morning), and have been since he was a couple weeks old. We're very fortunate that he's a great sleeper and consistently sleeps 6+hrs at night (last night was over 9hrs!), so on those mornings when it's been a long time since his last feeding and I'm pretty full/engorged, I'll pump what he doesn't finish. I've got a very respectable stash going, that I've only had to dip into maybe twice, since like Amyinaustin, I've got no reservations about NIPing with this one so I'm not as adamant about taking a bottle with me everywhere.
Plus since 6wks I've been hitting the gym almost everyday, so I'll pump those mornings and bring that bottle to the gym for them to feed him if they need to. If they don't use it, I bring it home and freeze it.
ETA: Duh. I never answered your question. My point was that I don't pump every morning, and don't have a set schedule for pumping (e.g. ever-other morning, etc) and I've got a decent stash and haven't developed any overly hateful feelings toward the pump yet. (But I go back to work next week, so surely that will change).
