Update on friend's wife

A few weeks ago I posted for T&P for a friend's wife - their baby had to have a couple of heart surgeries in utero and they were waiting for him to be born. Well, he was born last night and his dad posted a couple of pictures of him crying, which is wonderful news!

He still has multiple surgeries ahead of him and is in a NICU/CICU, but his birth went as smoothly as it possibly could.

  • What incredibly good news! A friend of mine was born with mutiple congenital abnormalities to her heart and, although she recently had to go through yet another heart surgery, has had a great life and refuses to let it slow her down. Most people would never know that she has had problems. Sending them good vibes and hope for the future. So happy that this part of it could go smoothly for them!

  • I missed the original post, but I am so happy to hear the good news.  My sister was born with an undetected congenital heart abnormality that essentially left her with no mitral valve (which that separates the oxegenated (new) blood from un-oxegenated (used) blood).  She had two major surgeries before she was 3 months old, then was on quite a bit of medication and frequent echos and stress tests through her toddler years.  They assumed she would need an artificial valve at some point in her childhood but she's done so well she didn't need to have surgery until she was 17 (which means she won't need another for about 20 years vs. as a kid she'd need the valve replaced as she grew).  She's now almost 21 and is living the typical college experience - it really hasn't slowed her down one bit. I'll be thinking of your friends, I can't imagine what a scary experience that must be.
