Carseats in Camry vs. Corolla?

We're considering purchasing a Camry or Corolla.  We're planning on LO #2 in the next year or two so I'd like opinions on how much room there is in the back seat for two RF car seats.  Do the front seats have to be way up?

TIA.

Re: Carseats in Camry vs. Corolla?

  • I've owned both and there is definitely more room in the Camry. There's plenty of space for the car seats even with the seats positioned normally. I would definitely recommend the Camry with a family of 4 instead of the Corolla. :)

  • I own a carolla and I love it, but I have to agree with PP, there is more room in a camry.  We need to have the front passenger seat pushed up to the point that my knees touch the air bag and i am only 5' 2".  We use a graco snug ride though, which i have heard some say that it takes up more space then some others.  Have fun car shopping!

  • Definitely go for the Camry. It has much more room. We have 2 SUVs, and we still have our seats pushed up for the carseats. You'll want a nice sedan, since you have the choice.

This is us exactly. Also have the corolla, also have the snugride, and I'm also 5'2" and have to have the passenger seat pushed all the way up. We thought when we bought the car that we would have a lot of room. We should have busted the car seat out and did a test run!

  • We have a corolla and had the infant car seat behind the passenger seat. The seat was as far back as it could go while still being able to take the infant seat in and out of the car, and my 5'9" husband still sat comfortably in the passenger seat. I'm guessing the convertible car seat is the problem but we installed that in the middle seat so this wasn't a problem.

  • Definitely go for the Camry. I have a Corolla and while it was okay with the infant seat, we now have a Marathon installed behind the passenger seat and no one taller than me (5'2") would comfortably be able to sit in the passenger seat because of how far it's pushed up. Luckily, whenever we go somewhere as a family we take our other car (SUV) so I've really never had a passenger in the Corolla AND DS in the seat. I hope to replace this car with a bigger one in a few years. (It's a great car, but not so much when it's packed with car seats!)
