Stay at Home Moms

During the week...

How often do you get out of the house?  What type of outings do you make?

Re: During the week...

  • I strive to get out of the house at least once each day. And I'm successful about 95% of the time. Some days I get out of the house a few times! :)

    Walks at the mall

    Walks at a park

    Playdates

    Library storytime

    Grocery shopping

    Clothes shopping

  • I try to get out every day. Even if it is just going down the street to the starbucks drive thru. We also go to storytime at the library, mall, park if it is nice. In the summer we spend a lot of time at the pool.

  • During the week I get out everyday. I have to drop off/ pick up older kids from school. I try to incorporporate something else in that time frame too such as taking DD#3 to the mall play area, walking around target, grabbing a treat and a coffee, library, walks, parks, thrift stores...

  • Pretty much every day.  Unless it is pouring rain or bitterly cold (like under 30 degrees) I try to get the kids outside at least for a little while every day

We usually go to the gym every day.  After that we may run an errand (grocery store or Target)

We also sometimes have a playdate.  In nice weather there are always kids playing on our block or at the playground.

We have memberships to the zoo, aquarium and children's museum, so that is always an option.  We can also walk to our local library

Once a week we go to my parents' for lunch

  • Usually 3 days a week.  Lately though we've been lucky to get out 1-2 days, I've been exhausted and DD has a horrible cold that she has now shared with us!

  • Every day. If we don't get out in the morning hours, then DS doesn't sleep at all and he's a nightmare.

What we do depends on the weather. We have passes to the children's museum/zoo, so we do that a lot. I do story time, playdates with other mom friends, walks to the playground, walks around the mall/shopping center, anything to get out of the house really.

In the summer we go to the beach a whole lot.

  • We drive H to the train at 7:30 am and pick him up around 5:30, so we're "out" at least twice a day, but it's just a 20-30 min ride (about 12 min each way). On top of that, we try to go for a walk every day, but I usually draw the line around 40 degrees, so there have been plenty of days/ weeks we haven't walked at all. I go grocery shopping one day a week and try to split up any other trips- so if I have to run to target, i'll save it for a day that I need to get out of the house instead of just going while i'm out grocery shopping.  Some days even running to the coffee shop will get me out of a funk. I'm really looking forward to the Spring though. I miss long walks and can't wait to take him to the playground, the lake, etc.  And as he gets older i'm sure we'll do more playdates and group activities through the town (story time at the library, for example.) But for now, I do enjoy having a few lazy days where neither of us gets out of PJs! Smile

  • Everyday!! It's gotta to be below 10 degrees or one of us be sick to not go out. DD is just like me. Got to get out everyday or we go nuts. She's got ballet on Mondays, preschool Tues and Thurs, playgroup is on Wednesday, and Friday is our free day. Usually go to the small children's museum we got passes for in the winter/rainy days. In the summer we go to the zoo, beach, or wherever. I also like to do lunch out on Fridays with the kids.

  • Once a day.

Children's museum. (we have a year pass)

Library to play or for story time.

    Coffee/play place.  (for toddlers)

    Visit family.

Park if it is nice outside.

    Pool in the summer.

Outdoor waterpark (it is just a park that has water shooting out from the ground and its free)

    Target. :)

I just moved to a new area a few months ago and I just joined a mom's group.  As soon as I feel better (terrible sinus infection) I will start attending their outings. :)

  • I try to daily. But with the supposed increase in gas prices coming up, I might just do walk when the weather is nice. Sometimes I leave just to leave and walk around the mall. But if it goes to $4.25+/gal, that will end. We go to the library for infant story time, Target, grocery store once a week.

  • Almost every morning and sometimes after nap, too. Once in a while we just chill at home if it's stormy out or we're feeling sick. I feel better if I have a reason to get ready and go somewhere.

Monday mornings we always go to breakfast and grocery shopping with my Mom. Tuesday mornings we go to a play group or open gym. Wednesdays we do random things - Target, visit Grandma, park, dollar store, walk.Thursdays we go to story time and/or a music class. Friday mornings we do random things and sometimes longer outings like the mall, zoo, aquarium etc.

I also go to the gym and DD plays in the kids club about 3x/week. (Need to get back into this when I'm fully-recovered). And I try to meet-up with one of my girlfriends without kids a few times a month for coffee, lunch or a walk and DD comes along.

  • very frequently: gym

All other outings are related to homeschooling. We take a nature class sometimes. We go bowling every other week. We go swimming about once a month. We go to a museum or another event about once a month. When the weather is nicer we go for hikes or go to parks.

  • We get out almost daily. We go to the gym 3-4 times a week, toddler music class, lunch with my grandma on Tuesdays, playdates, children's museum, zoo and run occasional errands.

  • We play outside daily, rain or shine. We drive somewhere at least twice a week, preschool co-op T/TH. Mondays are often playdates but sometimes recovering from a big weekend (like today), Wednesday DS goes to a bible study and I'll run errands with just the baby, and Friday is often playdates or getting ready for a busy weekend.
