September 2011 Moms

I'm THAT mom

Yeah so I was talking with my aunt yesterday and she mentions a great pediatric dentist and that they have a waiting list.  So I call anticipating putting Emily on the list so that by the time she needs a dentist they get to her name.

So there is no waiting list and I'm a crazy mom who calls a dentist for her barely 6 month old daughter.  Yeah.... I'm a crazy person.  Or just a planner.  Or both.

  • The office told me 2 years old, unless they are having a problem.  She said to call if I ever notice spots on her teeth.

Good to know.....but HAHAHAHA.....so you were a year and half early.  LOL  That's funny stuff.

Your LO already has teeth, right?  Do you 'brush' them?  We've got 4 teeth and we wipe them with a wet wash cloth in the bath, but that's it.

  • Planning is good.  I asked our pedi about this at the last visit.  She said go around 2-3 unless there is an issue that requires a visit sooner.  She also said some family dentists will take little kids so I'm hoping we find one nearby.  DD doesn't have teeth yet.

Yup, she has 4 teeth.  We do brush them at bedtime when she lets me.  We have a little tooth brush and berry toothpaste... she just licks the brush mostly.  Sometimes we wipe her teeth if I forget about the brush.

Yeah the conversation with the receptionist was funny.  I had us both laughing.

  • At least you are worried about dental care.  My brother's gf/fiance (long story) has a 4 year old from a previous relationship that still hasn't been to the dentist.  Someone told her that she didn't need to go until she started school.  Problem is, she eats candy, chicken nuggets, fries, and mac & cheez, literally in that order.  She has spots on her two front teeth that I guess her mother doesn't notice?  or pay attention too.  My whole family is noticing this, but we can't say anything.  My brother and her have a almost 1 year old together, we are making sure she goes to the dentist when the time is right, at least we hope.  The 4 year is a little terror that runs her mom.  Ugh.. issues.

Anyway, my child will be going to the dentist around 1 1/2 to 2, no matter what they say depending on his teeth.  He doesn't have any now, but that doesn't mean he won't have them all before he's 2.  I would have done the same as you about calling!  We want the best! :)

  • That is too funny.

Our dentist says to bring them in at 3 or when they can sit still, whichever comes first (unless you see issues of course).
