Baby came early!

(Long post ahead!) I was due 2/29 and baby (boy) vbim arrived early Wednesday morning. Everything went smoothly, if a bit faster than expected.

My water broke at about 10:20 Tuesday night and we left for the hospital about 2 hours later. When our doula arrived after a bit that, I was at 3cm or so. We walked around the L&D wing a bit to help manage contractions - it was great that I could be mobile.

When we had to return to the room for monitoring about 40 mins later, my doula suggested I do a sort of yoga child's pose against the raised head of the bed to help with the increasing intensity/frequency of contractions & to keep bringing the baby down. Lots of deep breathing - my prenatal yoga classes came in handy!

After another 30-ish minutes of what seemed like very intense contractions, I'd had enough and asked for the epidural. Turns out I was nearly complete and asked for it barely in time to kick in before pushing began. Pushing took all of about 30 minutes, and LO arrived at about 4:30am. What a feeling to see him emerge and be placed on your chest! Just amazing. We're thrilled. He's so snuggly and adorable. We're also a little anxious as he was small and has lost a little more than 10% of his birth weight, so we're working on fattening him up.
