On friday, I started organizing some of my photo folders from my new Mac and moving pictures into a folder on my external hard drive.
Well to make a long story very short, I think I accidentally overwrite the photo fold on the external hard drive, and now every picture I have ever taken is gone. All gone. Every picture of every vacation, my nieces, my family, and every picture of Owen from the last 8.5 months is gone forever. I don't have any backups
I am so mad at myself over this. I am smarter than this... My only saving grace is that super important pics, Owens newborn photos, wedding pictures - those are all on cd... And I can redownload everything I out on FB, and of course there are still iPhone photos, I also found hard copies I ad printed of a bunch of pictures, but even still, it's just so sad to think that all those .memories are not available digitally...
Plus, my friend who works in the IT field came over to help me try and recover them, but then the whole external hard drive crapped out, taking with it, all my music.
Thousands of photos and thousands of songs - gone in a day....
Re: Gone. All gone.
Well, this is my lesson to have back ups of the backups... I'm off to buy two more external HDs today....
I'm so sorry. A few years ago I lost a month's worth of pictures and documents at the end of January when my hard drive died. DH gave me a external HD configured to backup everything automatically for Valentine's Day. All my friends laughed about how un-romantic it was...but I thought it was the most romantic thing because he actually paid attention and got me something great.
On my work computer we just went to Mozy online auto backup. I have to say, it's already saved my butt when I accidentally deleted a file I'd been working on for weeks.
