XP: Really??? Also, quick Adalyn update

So, we were just at the hospital visiting Adalyn for her Hands On at 11a, and as we were walking through the parking garage to the hospital, there was an EXTREMELY pregnant woman thoroughly enjoying her cigarette!

Really?? Am I on What Would You Do from ABC? Of course I didn't say anything because I didn't have time (had to make it to Adalyn's). I just don't think that I've seen a VERY pregnant woman so blatantly enjoying a smoke. DH and I just couldn't really believe it.

As far as Adalyn, her chest X-ray today was much improved, as well as her blood gases, per the MD and they are going to push her even a little more so that hopefully she can be off the vent in the next couple of days. Woo-hoo! She is also up to 860g (1 pound 14 ounces) and is tolerating her feeds very well.

A doctor we talked to believes that a lot of DH's health problems stem from the fact that Mom smoked a pack a day while pg. with him, which definitely led to the prematurity. Back then, people didn't really know. Now, people do, so I can't understand why you would smoke! So amazing. Anyway, rant over, glad to hear Adalyn is doing better!

Glad to hear her xray was improved and that she's still gaining weight! Hope the antibiotics are also doing their job! I love coming over here to see updates on your little Adalyn!?

aww I wanted an Adalyn picture!

and, I know what you mean about pg people smoking...so gross. when i was in college (grad school mind you) a woman in my class smoked daily through her entire pregnancy. I was sickened by it.

Yikes! I haven't seen obviously pregnant people smoking around where I am from. That would disturb me too, especially at a hospital!

So glad to hear that Adalyn is doing better and continuing to gain weight. Yay!

Wonderful to hear that Adalyn is doing better!

I don't even want to tell you the type of crap I've seen that makes a cigarette basically nothing but I will ok I work on L&D in cord blood donation in at BWH in Boston (level 3 nicu hospital) where I will also be having my lil peanuts. This one lady, she was a crack addict, 36w admitted for being drunk and disorderly. They had to strap her dumb arse to the bed. When she "was better" acting she was asking to go have a cigarette!! She was dilated too! The nurse was so mad she didn't even want to take care of her! Of course "she didn't want the baby either" and said she didn't get an abortion "because she couldn't afford it". Seriously!! They were "taking the baby" from her which is good but she just sucked in general, I seriously wanted to spit in her face! I really hope for the sake of the baby that it was all right but unfortunately probably not...

That was probably the worst I've seen... It makes me sick to this day!

Great to hear more good news about Adalyn. Ya'll are doing great!

And as far as the pregnant smoker, it's disgusting. I don't smoke anyway, but ever since I got pregnant just being around it makes me want to vomit. And the poor baby, so unfair.
