Beco butterfly vs gemini

What is the difference between these two? When I google beco gemini the butterfly always comes up. I just heard about this carrier so I know nothing. TIA

Re: Beco butterfly vs gemini

  • I have a Butterfly and have no experience with the Gemini...but from what I know the big difference is that you can wear baby forward facing in the Gemini, and not in the Butterfly. Not sure what other differences there are though...

  • I don't have either, but I got a gemini for my friend. If I was going to get one, I would get the gemini, because I don't like the idea of the internal harness... however I think that it would help some people feel safer. I also would like the option of a hip carry (even though I don't do hip carries that often).I found this chart on quirkybaby.com comparing the two...

  • Most people in my babywearing group prefer the Gemini.  The internal harness of the Butterfly is nice if you're anxious about getting baby onto your back, but once you're more comfortable it can be annoying and get in the way.

That said, you can usually find the Butterfly on sale/or pretty cheaply used since it's been out for years.  The Gemini came out about a year ago and is harder to find for less than retail.
