Diaper Bag to hospital?

I'm finally finishing up packing for the hospital (i'm due tomorrow) and some lists i'm looking at say to bring diaper bag, but i'm thinking the hospital will give us everything we are going to need for the ride right?  we only live 10 minutes from the hospital so sending someone to the house wouldn't be a big deal, but just wondering what others did.  did u bring anything for baby besides going home outfit, socks, hat, blanket, car seat???

Re: Diaper Bag to hospital?

  • I only brought my bag w/ the going home outfit in it.  DH went home every day for random things I wanted and to take my dirty stuff home.

  • The only reason I would suggest diaper bag is in case you have to have a c-section and are there for 3-5 days. You might want to pack a few outfits for baby since lots of pics will be taken and you may not want lo to be in hospital for every single one. Just a suggestion...

  • I brought the diaper bag- only because I had all those things packed in it.  I also had his binky's and stuff in it. I dressed him in a different outfit everyday, so I had the bag full of clothes, hats and such.
  • I didnt bring it, the hospital provided more than enough for us to use and we had enough bags to carry as it was. I didnt miss anything from it.

  • I'm bringing mine. It'll probably stay in the car, but I want it there anyway, just in case. (we're an hour from the hospital) I was also given the tip to bring it and stuff it with all the extra diapers and things from the hospital on the day you go home. Not sure if I'll do that, but it's an idea.

  • I didn't bring mine at all. I just had her going home outfit in my bag and they gave us everything else that we would need while there. The nurses gave us a plastic bag for all the stuff we took home.

  • I'm bringing mine packed with a few outfits, 2 receiving blankets (one to bring home for the dog to sniff and one to wrap her in on the way home), a pacifier for the ride home (our hospital no longer provides pacis), and a wet bag for dirty outfits. I'm having a c-section and we're expecting lots of guests, so I did want some clothes other than what the hospital provides to put her in for all those photos.  I wouldn't be bringing the diaper bag if that wasn't the case!
