Special Needs

Introduction

I'm not new to the bump but I haven't been on in a long time. My 2.5 year old son Jude was recently diagnosed with SPD (Sensory Seeking) and Language Delay. We have been going through all the motions the last 2 months getting him set up to begin Early Intervention. He should be starting ST and OT officially the beginning of March. I look forward to meeting some new Moms with similar experiences that know a lot more then we do right now.

 Hi.

 That's all :)

Re: Introduction

  • Hi- my kids are almost 2, and while they dont have SPD, they do have some sensory seeking needs, and also are very speech delayed. OT has helped a lot!!

  • Hi.

My older DS has ADHD stuff going on...possibly on the spectrum as well (have big evals coming up next moth)

My little guy just turned two and I had EI out for the initial visit last week...he's only got 10 words or so and not really putting two together very often.

I'm so glad to hear the OT is helping!! I hope the same will be true for Jude. Nice to meet you!

Jude is saying about 10-15 words since about 14 months, but not much progress yet. Good luck on your evals! That seems to be the most stressful/anxiety inducing part so far. Nice to meet you!

  • Hi there!  My 2.5-year-old started EI with language delays but he also has some sensory seeking needs (but not SPD). After 6 months of speech therapy, his language is moving along nicely. And we started OT three weeks ago and I'm hopeful it will help with regulation.  I hope your DS does well with both the ST and OT.
