Does this happen to anyone? I recently announced to "the world" that I was pregnant, and now it appears that everyone around me is a pregnancy expert? Who knew! It is super annoying, and people just can't keep their rude comments to themselves. I mean, pregnant women are more hormonal, so I feel like they should know not to say rude things to you. But, apparently not! I had a co-worker tell me it looks like I am getting bigger, and that I am "spreading out" everywhere. I am almost 3 1/2 months and I'm already paranoid that i've gained 9lbs. Maybe I am just super hormonal. Is anyone else dealing with rude people??
Re: Apparently everyone becomes a pregnancy expert when you're expecting
Not so far, no. But I've already got a great list of comebacks for certain comments/questions by reading these boards. I'm not really sure what to say for the "fat" comments though..
I've been practicing (in my head) saying "Oh wow, awkward" when people say really inappropriate things. And when they say that they didn't mean it like that, reply "I can't help but be offended".
ps: I'd love to give credit to the awesome woman who originally posted those comments I just wrote, but I can't remember who it was exactly, or which post it was on.
yes, that or they some how knew you were pregnant! Soo annoying....we just announced to the family this weekend and my MIL is doing this exactly. Drives me bonkers!
I had a woman the other day say "Wow your getting wide!! Being pregnant sure does chunk some people up." WTH LADY???
I have no bump yet, still fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans, and lost 2 pounds since I got my BFP. And I am only a size 8. If she didn't know I was pregnant there would be no way to tell..
I hate rude people!
Yep, just vented about it above. My step-MIL telling the entire table at dinner how I got HUGE the first time around. That it's good I haven't gained much yet because hopefully I won't get quite so huge this time around. She also kept pointing out that her sister (who was sitting at the table) only gained 23 pounds with her pregnancy. Uh? her sister was significantly overweight when she got pregnant and I was borderline underweight. Bite me.
I also hate that they suddenly blame everything on pregnancy. I forgot something, "oh yeah, of course you have preggo brain now." I want this normal thing I always get for lunch, "your pregnancy cravings are crazy." I'm tired, "it's exhausting making a baby." I feel like crap (had a cold all week), "well, you're bound to feel a little gross while you're pregnant." Uh, no. I'm just forgetful, hungry, didn't sleep well, and have a head cold that makes me cranky on top of it all.
My boss asked me why i cant drink caffeine... (to avoid a long pointless discussion I simply said it has a possibility to cause birth defects in large amounts) and he says: Dont you think thats in your head?!? ummm yah.. then a coworker said im having a girl bc you can tell from the back that im preggie... ummm thanks!? Those were my favorite 2 from last week
