What beach to fly to?

We have quite a few airline miles and would like to take a trip this summer with our 2 boys 4 & 6. I would like it to be family friendly with a nice beach. Any suggestions? I am open to anywhere Southwest will fly!
Thanks!

  • Hilton Head, SC (not sure about SW though) is family friendly or Destin, FL is where our old neighbors always go with their kids.

  • Ditto Hilton Head. You can fly into Savannah, GA and then it's a 45 minute drive to HH. Orange beach, AL is another great spot. Fly into Pensacola, FL and it's about a 45 minute drive to OB. San Diego is also wonderful. Direct flights from Austin but the water is cold.

  • Ft. Lauderdale is fun. We stayed at the Harbor Beach Marriot on our last visit. It was on the beach, very kid friendly and beautiful. We booked our stay with marriot points and it was very reasonable.

  • SoCal?  The beaches in Orange County are gorgeous and Disneyland is close by.  Not sure about your budget, but we stayed at Pelican Hill (Newport Coast) and it was a-freaking-mazing.  Totally family friendly, they accommodated all of the kids' needs perfectly.  Great pool with a kiddie area.  They shuttle guests down to Crystal Cove Beach, which is one of the prettiest areas in OC (imo).  I'm pretty sure Southwest flies into Santa Ana and/or Long Beach.

. Yep, SW flies into SNA (orange county) but no direct flights. I think there's at least one flight that just has a stop in el paso, no plane change (might have been from San Diego? Can't remember). SW doesn't fly into long beach but there's a direct to LAX or San Diego.

  • Wow, Hilton Head looks great! I never even thought of SC only Florida and California. Thanks for the ideas!
