So I hear form mulitple people that this is OK?? I am just 6 weeks pregnant and my LO1 is 14 months old, nursing before bed and when he first gets up in the AM. When I am home on the weekends he will sometimes nurse before his nap, but I have started doing a bottle at this time as during the week that is what he gets.
Anybody else still nursing # 1? How long do you plan on doing it? I feel like my supply has taken a huge hit and I never feel full anymore, but LO still seems to be content and like he is getting enough.
Re: Breastfeeding and pregnant
Totally ok! (Unless your Dr says otherwise, but I don't see why they would)
I BF'ed DD1 until I she was 15-16 months old (so I BF'ed her for almost all of my 1st trimester of my 2nd pregnancy). Like you, it was only a few times a day and she never seemed to notice (or care) a decrease in supply.
Perfectly safe. I am STILL BFing #1 (tandem nursing mama). My supply took a huge hit around 19 weeks but DD1 still nursed strong. I delivered a healthy baby girl at 40w4d so don't let anyone tell you that BFing will cause preterm labor (unless you have a history of it).
If you plan on continuing to BF I highly recommend Adventures in Tandem nursing. Even if you plan on weaning before #2 arrives it covers Pregnant and BFing extensively.

I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living my baby you'll be.

Please keep your LOs RF as long as possible
I'm not saying this to make you feel bad at all, so please don't take it that way.
I'm still nursing #1 and nursed all through pregnancy. With my first pregnancy I didn't gain any weight at all. I weighed less on delivery day (before giving birth) than I did pre-pregnancy by a few pounds. My son was born at 36 weeks and weighed 6lbs13oz and was fine other than some jaundice (which is very common in pre-term babies).
My midwives were totally fine with me nursing through this pregnancy even though I didn't gain any weight (I was exactly even on delivery day) and was "at risk" for pre-term labor. This one was born at 40 weeks exactly and weighed 9 lbs. Clearly nursing during pregnancy wasn't an issue for me.
I second the 'Adventures in Tandem Nursing' recommendation. It's great for any situation, including some nice gentle weaning advice. Also, tandem nursing is the best if you choose to go that route. I feel like it makes a huge difference with the jealousy issue and also with trying to manage a toddler while nursing (because if I'm really not interested in chasing while nursing I can often convince him to nurse too).
I got pregnant again when DD was 9 months old...she was still nursing A LOT. Way more than she was eating solids, that's for sure. I nursed without problems throughout my pregnancy, until I was about 32 weeks, then I weaned DD. I am sure my supply was different and less as my pregnancy went on. She was just nursing at night before bed at that point, and it was definitely harder for me to let go than her. I quit pretty much cold turkey over 2 days and never had any leaking or discomfort, so that was nice.
My OB assured me it was perfectly safe to continue nursing. Just be sure to take a prenatal vitamin and get plenty of hydration and calories in you. The real danger, if any, is to you, and not the babies. I was told that the kiddos will take what they need from you and will be nutritionally fulfilled. But you can run low on iron, calcium, etc. So just be conscious about your own health, too, and do what feels right!
