starting to lose it....

I think I started to lose my mucus plug this morning. I am 35w and 5d as of today. This makes me a little nervous. I know labor can come weeks after you lose your plug, but it is making everything feel so close! I really hope this baby doesn't come until at least 37w. Anyone else start losing their plug yet? Should I mention this to my doctor at my appointment this week?

  • I would certainly mention it to your doctor. I haven't had any signs of losing mine this time and never lost it last time.

  • I lost my plug at 38 weeks last week and I am still preggo.  My sister in law lost hers early like you and didn't deliver for another three weeks.  My OBGYN tip sheet with numbers and suggestions for when to call or not call says to just let them know at your next appointment that you lost the mucus plug.  It is nothing to be over concerned about unless you have other labor symptoms.  I've had more intense Braxton Hicks contractions this week.  Hope that helps.  I was like you last week and called my sis in law and she told me to chill out.  So I did and informed my OBYN of the plug loss yesterday at my appointment.
  • I'm almost 38 weeks and have no signs of losing mine. Also, no Braxton hicks or any other signs of labor being remotely close. I'm a little worried I may never have this baby. Also, to OP, I'd mention it to your doctor but from what I understand the mucus plug can regenerate if it's not close to labor time so don't worry too much

I'd mention it at your next appt, but it's not a big deal. It can regenerate, and it can mean nothing at all.
