Question for you all-knowing ladies... Is the newborn hearing test they give in the hospital optional? I know it is important to have the baby's hearing tested but I'm just wondering if you are allowed to test outside of the hospital. I ask because we recently received our bill for the test and I'm curious if there is a less-expensive way to test. It seems a pretty pricey routine thing that is done, yet I wasn't expecting to pay and assume others may be surprised by it as well..
Thanks!
Re: newborn hearing test?
I was super pissed about the bill too. With our insurance, ALL inpatient care is supposed to be covered at 100% and they said the hearing test wasn't covered because it was optional. Uh, no it wasn't. But I've no clue what the other options are.
Ditto.
Really? Wow, I wish we would have asked about it when they came in to do the test. They just really didn't say anything except tell us why they were coming in and what they were going to do.

Same here.
