Car seat/ Stroller bug net/ UV cover

Anyone ever use one of these? Where I live the mosquitoes get horribly bad, even though they spray through out the summer. I was thinking it would be a good thing to get so we can go to the park for walks and such.

Re: Car seat/ Stroller bug net/ UV cover

  • We had a cheap mesh bug net to pull over the stroller if needed.  Never needed but not a bad idea to have one around.  I wouldn't spend too much though.

  • I, too, live in a high mosquito area and I swear those buggers are mutants that can outlive the chemical dousing they get monthly in the summer. We put cheap stroller and carrier netting on our registry. It seems like a good thing to have as I am certainly not putting bug repellant on the baby.

I am with you on thinking they're mutants! It gets horrible where I live since we're near a river. I'm going to look into some all natural repellents like maybe some type of oil like vanilla or lavender or something that I can wear so my little one isn't exposed to that.

  • You can easily make your own repellant using essential oils. I sometimes use Sound Earth's Body Guard

It smells a little strong when you first put it on but it works really well. There are also plants you can put in your yard such as marigolds, rosemary, and citronella that can help as well. I'm not overly paranoid about West Nile virus since I'm not in a high risk for complications group, I just find them really, really annoying. I'd personally rather deal with the risk over the potential risk of getting monthly chemical sprays dumped on my property. We cover our veggie gardens and water like mad when they spray here.

    Good luck in your repelling!
