Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

XP: Older Baby- where to sleep on vacation?

My baby normally sleeps in the crib.  We used to use the PNP when she was younger in hotels, etc.  I will be traveling with her again when she'll be about 15-16 months.  What do you do these situations?  Would she be too big for the Graco PNP?  My thinking is yes.  Portable crib?  Thanks in advance!

  • We don't have a PNP, but used the little Baby Bjorn portable crib when we traveled recently.  It is probably about the same size as the PNP and worked well for our daughter when she was about 15 months.  Good luck!  Have a nice trip.

  • We used our PNP for vacations or overnights wherever until DD1 was 2 and a half. It worked fine. My kids are also big for their ages and she fit.

  • E will be 17 months when we visit my sister and will sleep in her pnp for a whole week. She does fine in it.

  • We always use the PnP when traveling.  X will not sleep with other people, he needs his own space and to put himself to sleep with no distractions.  I think we will be using the PnP for a while.

  • Some hotels offer cribs.  If you're going somewhere popular there may be a rental service of baby things.  I know in the Hamptons there's a company that does that.
  • We still use his PnP when we go to my parents' house, and he'll be 2 next month.

  • DD still uses the PNP.  Since she has gotten a little older, we have used a couple of thick blankets under on top of the "mattress" and she sleeps great.

  • Just want to reiterate (I commented on your post from 9-12), in regards to the bassinet level question you had, she is way too big for it, and you absolutely cannot use the bassinet part at this point.

  • I think the weight limit on a PNP is 25lbs.  My daughter is 18 months and 28 lbs, so we aren't using the PNP anymore.

We went to Jamaica last week and the hotel provided a crib for us.

When we go visit family in FL next month we are renting a crib.

  • My nephew is 2.5 and 32 lbs, and still sleeps in the PNP at my mom's. I think you'll be fine. She won't have as much space as she's used to, but she'll adjust.

  • Liam cannot sleep in his PNP anymore.  He hates bumping into the sides.  It drives him nuts and wakes him up all night long.  At our in-laws he basically slept on a futon mattress on the floor in our room and when we go to Key West we got a suite with two queen beds and he will have his own bed.

I wish we could still do the PNP!

  • We definitely use a PNP for travel or sleeping over at the grandparents.

  • DD is 18 months, she still sleeps in the PNP. She sleeps great when we travel. I'm going to use it until she sleeps in a big girl bed.

  • My 16 month old is really tall for his age (33+ inches), and he can still fit in the PNP.

We bought this for my older son, and he still fits in it fine. https://www.amazon.com/Shrunks-Tuckaire-Toddler-Inflatable-Travel/dp/B001EQ66WK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1329672005&sr=8-3

People seem to really like those PeaPod tent beds, too.

PNP manual says the limit is 30 lbs and 35 inches, or if the kid can climb out.  It's on the first page: www.gracobaby.com/Instruction%20Manuals/archive/374.pdf

  • We have a Go Crib, and DD really likes it. I like how light it is to carry around and travel with vs. the pack in play. However, at this point, if you aren't going to get a ton of use out of it, it's not worth it because it is pricey. Like PPs said, if you are in a hotel, they almost always have cribs that you can use.

  • We call the front desk and have them bring us a pnp.    She slept in this when we were in Disney two weeks ago, so she was 19 months.

Most Graco brand are 35in and 30lb, I think only 25lb for the changing table though.

We have the Baby Bjorn as well. We're going to Mexico on Thursday and we tested it out the other day to make sure itw as still big enough and DD has lots of room (and she's 21 months, and in the 95% for length/height).
