Food Allergy

New here-Results for my LO

Good morning!

A friend from another board told me this board was great so I'm going to give it a try.

My youngest child is 12.5 months. He was Dx yesterday with milk, egg, and peanut allergies. I was expecting the milk allergy, as everytime I've tried to give him milk, cheese, ice cream etc, he would break out and/or vomit. The egg and peanut allergies came as a shock but does make sense as other foods would cause him to be splotchy.

We have also been dealing with a feeding aversion. (He rarely will eat table foods and is primarily still eating really soft foods, purees, puffs, and cheerios etc.) He is still breastfed, hates soy milk but seems to like almond milk a little bit.

I was really overwhelmed yesterday after his appointment but I'm determined to find ways to work around his allergies and also praying he will outgrow some of this! We will see the allergist again in May and 6 months from now we are going to do some follow up testing/bloodwork to determine the level allergy.

Sorry for the long intro! I look forward to learning from other mamas dealing with this:)

Re: New here-Results for my LO

  • Hello and Welcome! Dairy, egg and peanut allergies over here as well. My Jacob ate baby food until around 15-16m and he still hates food in general, unless its cookies or nuggets. HA.

Eggs and peanuts are easy to avoid, but Dairy is in EVERYTHING. You will have to look at all food labels now and become familiar with ingredients.

DS#3 - Allergic to Milk, Egg, Peanut, Tree Nuts and Sesame

  • Welcome, my DS is allergic to milk, eggs and nuts as well. If you ever need some great group of parents to vent to, we are here! PP is right, milk can show up in the sneakiest of places, so be sure to check out the FAAN website, and read all food labels carefully.

  • Thanks ladies!!!
  • Hi!  My daughter is 16 months and diagnosed in Dec.  Her growth was stunted and clinically she was failure to thrive.  In addition to allergies, I thought she might also have food texture issues.  Now, only about 10 weeks later, she's a champion eater!!!!  I think now that we eliminated her triggers, she has more of an appetite and is confident in trying new foods.  I think you may be surprised how your LO comes around once he's free of his allergens.  Good luck.
