Rec your baby ezcema cream

At P's 6 mo check up today the doc said she has the early signs of ezcema (sp?). He recommended just regular Eucerin cream. He said it didn't matter if it was the baby kind of not. I was just looking for any recommendations and how yours works? Bonus points if it's something all natural/organic.

Re: Rec your baby ezcema cream

  • eucerin and cetaphil are the best for ezcema. Chase has ezcema REALLY bad. When he was an infant- his first winter he got it so bad on his face the ONLY thing that helped was a steroid cream- :(  it was so red and he kept scratching them- luckily the steroid cream cleared it up pretty quickly and then I would just slather him in cetaphil. He definitely still has the REALLY dry itchy skin in the winter- but its no where as bad as when he was an infant-

staying on top of it by keeping it moisturized is critical- also eliminate unecessary bathing- exposure to water.

  • We had such a battle with eczema. It lasted for 7 months until the doctor could help us. His cheeks got infected because of the eczema, and his regular pedi put him on antibiotics that did nothing, and a steroid cream that also did nothing. We finally went to a pedi dermatologist, and she took a culture of his cheek. He actually had a staph infection... so he got another round of antibiotics and steroids. It finally cleared up. The dermatologist told us to use vaseline all over his little body twice a day because she said it was so gentle. We use it still, and it has kept the eczema away.

    Her second recommendation was aquaphor.

Hope it clears up!  I know how frustrating it can be.

  • Nolan has battled eczema since birth and after the Rx steroid cream to treat the really bad, initial flare-up, I started using this:

    https://www.amazon.com/Gentle-Naturals-Eczema-Cream-Fragrance/dp/B000G62ESY

It's fantastically thick, fragrance-free, and the first ingredient is Petroleum, rather than water like every other lotion out there. They carry it at all my local grocery stores, Walgreen's, and BRU and is what I call a "3-day cream" because it stays on (if you don't bathe) for three days! Love it.

  • We have used Aquaphor (is that the same as Eucerin? it says both on the tube) and vaseline which are good "barrier" type products. We've also had a rx steroid cream that i've only used 2x but it works really well! It's vaseline-ish, too.

For every day moisture, we use calendula cream pretty much all over. I also swear by regular olive oil. I use it on myself, too.

This is great, though and it's organic and all-natural: https://www.californiababy.com/calendula-cream-2-oz.html

    ETA: Target carries it   ^

I love the California baby calundula cream. We have been using it since ds was 3 months old for cradle cap and mild ezcema.

  • Cetaphil worked wonders for DD. Now that we have switched, you can hardly tell that she has any skin problems. We use the cetaphil wash and cream.

  • DD prefers Aquafor to the Rx stuff we got from the doctor - She said the Rx stuff was "hot" so I rubbed it on a raw knuckle, and sure enough it burns like hell.

My son's wasn't horrible but the Aveeno Baby Eczema Lotion cleared it right up.

    This is us too.

The Nest/Bump sucks and won't let me change my location. I'm in Arkansas, not Florida.
  • DS has terrible eczema. He's had it since he was just a couple of months old. Eucerine cream didn't really work for him at all. Aveeno Baby is what's keeping it at bay right now.

He gets these really bad rashes on his cheeks, and the only thing that will clear those up is a prescription hydrocortizone cream.
