Tin Foil didn't work

We put foil in everything in the baby room to try to keep our cat out and it didn't work. She is constantly sleeping in the bassinet and the crib.

Did this actually work for anyone else who tried it?

Re: Tin Foil didn't work

  • Nope, nothing worked. I just let the cats sleep there. This is my 3rd baby and the cats stay away when the baby is in there anyway.

  • It Actually has worked for me... I have also used taped in the past.  Place strips of tape sticky side up.. Worth a shot. :)

The floor mats are a good idea too!

  • Nope, they slept on the foil. We tried balloons and it helped, but I agree, once the baby comes they don't want anything to do with his or her stuff.
  • Scat mats. You can put them anywhere and when the cats jump or step on it the mat gives a small electrical shock. Works great for training and typically after one shock you can turn it off and the sight alone freaks them out.

Cheap, clear plastic car floor mats or sheets of carpet protector have pointy nubs on the back.  They're not going to puncture anyone's paws, but, when turned over, they don't tickle.  When I had a cat, this was the only way I could discourage her from jumping on my kitchen counter.  Tin foil was useless.

  • We used those plastic floor mats with the poky side up too.  In fact, we got it at Menards- they sell it by the foot- much cheaper than buying actual floor mats.  We had it in the crib for a couple months before LO arrived.  I'm not sure if the cats ever jumped in there or not, but if they did, they haven't been back in there.  We've found that's the only thing that works to get our cats to stay out of or off of anything.  Good luck!

  • I've never had foil work for a cat mine love it. We got a playpen net and put that over the crib to keep our cat out. its been working so far.
