If you've made your own tutu...

where do you find the softer tulle? I made one for DD and it came out really cute but I think the tulle is pretty scratchy and I'm not sure she will keep it on for long (supposed to use it for a wedding she is flower girl in so she will need to wear it for a while). I was thinking giving this one away and trying again if someone can tell me a good website or somewhere to look for the "good" tulle.

  • If you want it to "stand up" on it's own you'll probably just have to use the scratchy tulle. I made one for DD1 to wear for Halloween last year using cheap, soft tulle from Wal-Mart, but it laid more like a skirt and no so much like the stiffer ones you find on Etsy, etc.

  • I found the rolls of tulle in the wedding section of Michaels to be soft, & the don't require as many cuts! The colors are a little bit limiting, but they still have some selection (I made a blue & aqua one).

I have the same tulle. It's not too bad on the scratchy meter, but I think it's still a little rough.

    This.

Ive found that the rolls of white wedding tulle at walmart are pretty soft. Anything labeled wedding is usually softer. I get alot from the wedding section at Michaels as well but, I like the more stiff tulle for tutus because I like how it puffs out. I've never heard any complaints about it being scratchy.

  • I haven't noticed a difference in the feel of any tulle I've found. There is just the sparkly and the non-sparkly. I got my tulle at JoAnn Fabrics and WalMart. It doesn't seem that scratchy to me.

  • I have found the tulle at Hobby Lobby you buy by the yard is a little softer then the rolls but you have to cut and measure more with this.  The one on the roll isnt really bad and my DD has ever complained.
